Regional law firm Wilkin Chapman Rollits has been named in the ‘Elite’ category of the Chambers Student 2026 Guide
A major regional law firm has secured a place amongst the nation’s leading employers for trainee solicitors. Wilkin Chapman Rollits has been ranked in the top 10 of the Chambers Student 2026 Guide.
Regarded as the gold standard for assessing training contract quality, the guide draws on extensive annual research, including interviews and surveys with trainees and newly qualified solicitors throughout the UK. Firms are evaluated against multiple criteria, such as placement standards and the quality of training and professional development opportunities on offer, which form the basis of the rankings.
Wilkin Chapman Rollits – formed last year through the merger of Grimsby-based Wilkin Chapman LLP and Hull’s Rollits – features in the ‘Elite’ category alongside several international competitors, excelling in both trainee satisfaction and supervision and contact time. The Guide’s independent assessment also notes that trainees are given early responsibility on live cases, benefit from direct access to senior lawyers and have opportunities to contribute to high-profile projects within supportive teams.
Lisa Boileau, lead training partner and private client divisional head at Wilkin Chapman Rollits, said: “This recognition is a direct reflection of what our trainees experience day to day in the firm. We are incredibly proud to offer a training contract that combines high-quality, hands-on legal work with supervision that is genuinely accessible and invested in across all levels for our trainees.
“Being ranked in the ‘Elite’ tier by Chambers Student, and in the top 10 firms nationally for trainee satisfaction, is an endorsement of our culture and of the people across the firm who support our trainees to ensure they can truly flourish. We are wholly committed to developing homegrown talent in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and ensuring our trainees build confidence, capability and long-term careers with us at Wilkin Chapman Rollits.”, reports Grimsby Live.
Training contracts at Wilkin Chapman Rollits encompass both private client and business services work, with trainees generally undertaking four six-month placements and experiencing at least one contentious and one non-contentious area. Trainees are also given opportunities to work across multiple offices, spanning the firm’s Grimsby, Lincoln, Louth, Hull, Beverley and York sites.
Angela English, learning and development business associate at Wilkin Chapman Rollits, commented: “Our approach is built around providing trainees with meaningful work, clear guidance, and the confidence to develop quickly. We are delighted that the feedback gathered independently by The Chambers Student Guide reflects the excellence that we strive to deliver. This well-deserved success belongs to our trainees, and to the supervisors and colleagues across the firm who invest their time and energy into supporting them.”
