Stocks Stutter at the Open as Markets Digest Delayed Economic Data, Tech Rally Stalls
The stock market’s rally hit a bump Tuesday morning as Wall Street sifted through a trove of September data that were delayed by the government shutdown.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 275 points, or 0.6%. The S&P 500 was up nearly 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.3%.
The Census Bureau reported September retail sales rose at a 0.2% monthly rate, which was below expectations for 0.4%.
