Stranded Travelers Wait for Relief From Insurance Policies
The flight cancellations that resulted from the U.S. military incursion in Venezuela have proven costly for many travelers. Their travel insurance policies may be of little help.
Travelers have reported that some hotels raised their rates in response to the bumper demand, and purchasing new flights home similarly is proving costly.
“Travel insurance coverage depends entirely on how an event is defined in the policy and how it is ultimately classified,” said Suzanne Morrow, chief executive of insurance-comparison website InsureMyTrip. “Coverage decisions are not based on headlines.”
