ABC’s Hottest New Series Returns With Record-Breaking Viewership Increase

High Potential continues to live far beyond its own potential, with a newly released report revealing that the series is only continuing to rake in audiences as it heads into its midseason slumber. Over the last two months, since the sophomore season premiered on September 16, viewership numbers have been nothing but on the rise, with the premiere clocking in at a staggering 17.23 views after 35 days across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms. In short, the debut episode of the latest season has earned a 300% increase from its day of release, which gathered around 4.34 million views, as per Nielsen. These numbers quickly surpass the first season’s 14.71 million viewers in 35 days and give a good look into just how successful the Kaitlin Olson-led procedural has become.

Beyond its Season 2 premiere, the numbers continue to point towards a Season 3 renewal for High Potential, with an average of 12.38 million viewers per episode after seven days. For comparison, the average seven-day numbers for Season 1 stood somewhere around 10.38 million viewers per episode, marking a 19% increase. And, while some may be hanging around following the credits of Dancing with the Stars, Nielsen reported that High Potential pulls in 40% of its live viewing audience from outside sources. Now that the crime drama is on a break ahead of the new year, we’d expect to see those numbers continue to climb before the second half of the season returns on January 6 in its new 9 p.m. time slot, as folks catch up on the action.

So Far This Season on ‘High Potential’…

Things kicked off with a bang at the top of High Potential’s second season, as audiences tuned in to see what would come from the numerous cliffhangers that dotted the Season 1 finale. For starters, the first few episodes got us a lot closer to uncovering the truth surrounding Morgan’s (Olson) first husband, Roman, while it also took on the series’ first official big bad — David Giuntoli’s the Game Maker. Although the latter fizzled out pretty quickly with a bit of a lackluster ending, the show quickly picked back up thanks to the introduction of Steve Howey’s character, Captain Nick Wagner, who we just can’t seem to trust — or even like. With a cliffhanger surrounding an art thief and potential murderer leading us into the second half of Season 2, there’s a lot for High Potential fans to look forward to upon the show’s return in January.

High Potential is now streaming on Hulu, Disney+ and Disney+ on Hulu.
