Anna Sorokin, convicted con artist, appears on “Dancing With the Stars” wearing glittery ankle monitor
Los Angeles — Convicted con artist Anna Sorokin has hit the dance floor on “Dancing With the Stars” with a featherweight – and very sparkly – ankle monitor.
The so-called “fake heiress,” who was convicted of swindling banks, hotels and friends in 2019 after falsely building a reputation as a wealthy German heiress named Anna Delvey, debuted the ballroom-worthy ankle monitor during the premiere of “Dancing With the Stars’” new season Tuesday night.
“It’s actually not a big issue at all. It’s pretty light and I asked them to make it tight so it doesn’t dangle. So it’s not so bad,” she told The Associated Press after the premiere. She and dance pro Ezra Sosa performed a routine set to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.”
“It’s the real star of the show, let’s be honest here,” Sosa said of Sorokin’s bedazzled ankle monitor.
“I think it’s kind of funny how people like – it’s not like an ankle weight,” Sosa said. “It’s not like 20 pounds. It’s like literally less than a pound and it’s not a big deal.”
Sorokin acknowledged her debut didn’t go as planned.
“I feel relieved that it’s over,” she said. “I feel like my dance could have been a little bit better, but I’m happy I’ve done this and it was a great experience all over.”
Sorokin said she hopes viewers will be somewhat forgiving despite her criminal history.
“Hopefully people will give me, will give me a chance to show what I can do. And I served my time and I repaid my restitution,” she said.
Early reviews from fans weren’t positive, with the phrase “Anna Delvey’s Lackluster DWTS Debut” among those trending on the social media site X.
While she was released from prison in February 2021, immigration authorities picked her up shortly after she got out, claiming she overstayed her visa and must be returned to her native Germany. The “Inventing Anna” inspiration was in ICE custody for over a year before a judge cleared the way for her to switch to home confinement in October 2022 while she fights deportation.
Her release terms had to be amended to allow her to travel from New York to Los Angeles for filming.
While on home confinement, Sorokin has also gotten involved with a podcast and reality show.

LSU student arrested over alleged death threat vs. governor who wanted live tiger at game
Baton Rouge, La. — An LSU student has been arrested after, prosecutors say, he made an online threat to kill Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, who advocated for bringing a live tiger onto the field as part of a recent college football game.
Landry, a Republican, helped revive the school’s tradition of wheeling a caged Bengal tiger into the stadium before kickoff for the first time in nearly a decade. Animal rights activists protested outside the stadium.
An arrest affidavit says Jackson Pemberton, 21, told state police investigators on Tuesday that he was joking when he posted on social media “I am going to kill you jefflandry,” tagging the governor’s account on X, media outlets reported.
Pemberton told investigators he was “upset with the governor’s decision regarding the live tiger that was brought on the LSU football field this previous weekend,” the affidavit said.
Pemberton, of Baton Rouge, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish prison on a count of threatening a public official, media outlets reported. Jail records didn’t indicate whether he has an attorney or if bond had been set.
In a statement Wednesday, an LSU spokesperson said the university was aware of the student’s arrest.
“We take any behavior that threatens the safety of individuals or our community very seriously,” the statement reads. “LSU is committed to a respectful, responsible, and safe environment for all.”

Shock Married At First Sight moment Hannah arrives at reunion with Ryan before flirting with another groom
MARRIED At First Sight’s explosive reunion saw Hannah arrive with Ryan, before flirting with another groom.
Rumours about a potential romance between the two had been swirling, and then even more so when they made a dramatic arrival as a couple.
Both Hannah and Ryan were unlucky-in-love on the dating show, with their relationships with Stephen and Sionainn collapsing on screen.
However, fans were shocked when it was revealed that Hannah and Ryan had been flirting off-camera and that they may have even shared a kiss.
Then on Wednesday night’s explosive reunion episode the pair looked in good spirits as they waltzed into the dinner party together.
Hannah and Ryan’s co-stars looked on in disbelief, and Sionainn shook her head as her ex arrived with a new girl.
Expert Charlene Douglas questioned: “Are they entering as a couple?”
To which Mel Schilling replied: “Well they’re not holding hands.”
Hannah said they were “just friends” after Kieran questioned what was going on between them.
Elaborating, Hannah went on: “For me he said last time I walked into a room full of people I got verbally attacked.”
Despite entering the reunion with Ryan, MAFS viewers noticed that she was “flirting” with another groom all night – Orson.
The pair have history after an “affair scandal” that rocked MAFS.
But despite fans thinking Hannah and Orson got together after the show, it appears Orson has moved on altogether.
According to a TikTok video he is dating Harriet Southan – the sister of Big Brother star Henry.
As fans may recall, Henry competed in 2023’s ITV revival series and placed third.
Elsewhere on Wednesday night’s episode, Kristina was left in floods of tears over Kieran rejecting her again, after she tells him: “I put my life on the line for you.”
The mechanic’s frosty reply “I just feel numb” left her walking away devastated.
But the biggest showdown of the night came from Polly and Adam after he had a pop at her for talking about him at the table.
He then aired details on their sex life, shouting: “Why are you b******g about someone who doesn’t f*****g want you?
“We had sex three times in 10 weeks!”
In response, she chucked a full glass of red wine over him and his cream dinner suit.

Emilia Perez: Netflix viewers left baffled by new Selena Gomez film
A new musical crime thriller on Netflix starring Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña has left viewers completely baffled, with verdicts ranging from “boring” to “movie of the year”.
Emilia Perez was called the most divisive film of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and arrived on Netflix on 13 November.
The film, directed by Jacques Audiard, stars Karla Sofía Gascón as the titular character, a Mexican drug cartel leader who undergoes gender affirmation surgery to medically transition.
Perez recruits a gritty lawyer played by Saldaña, to help her go through with the process, while her wife, played by Gomez, and children are relocated to Switzerland for their safety.
The ambitious movie currently holds a positive score on Rotten Tomatoes, but judging by social media reactions, it has been wildly alienating.
A particular scene, where Saldana has the process of a sex change operation explained to her through the medium of song, has already gone viral, racking up more than 4 million views at the time of writing.
The person who uploaded it wrote: “THIS IS NOT A REAL MOVIE.” They later added: “I’m 20 minutes in and this was already the second time I had to pause the movie just to laugh because oh my god.”
Another detractor called it “the most boring, generic crime drama you can conceive of, with the occasional demented music number inserted in”.
A third person said: “A horrendously miscalculated medley of poor taste creative decisions in an attempt to seem ‘important’ and ‘empathetic.’”

In a much more positive take, one viewer said: “The film was such a unique blend of comedy, crime, and musical elements that worked together in the most unexpected ways. The themes of identity and transformation were handled beautifully.”
Another person said that although the film was still “bats***” it still “flows with the context of the film. I kinda loved what it was doing and the story it was telling.”
In a review on Out, Mexican trans film critic Mey Rude said: Emilia Pérez isn’t just one of the best trans movies you’ll ever see, it’s one of the most unique and brilliant films of the year.”
At Cannes, Gascón and her co-stars shared the best actress prize, which she accepted.
Now, Gascón is widely forecast to be nominated for best actress at the Academy Awards.
Emilia Perez is available to watch now on Netflix.

Khushi Kapoor opens up about her love life and career- The Week
Khushi Kapoor’s love life is part of the latest Bollywood rumour mill. The actress is rumoured to be dating her The Archies co-star Vedang Raina.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, Khushi was asked how she deals with the “chatter”, and how she naviagtes this aspect of being an actor.
“It’s definitely new for me and it’s not something I had to put much thought into before. I would like my work to be the main focus. I understand there’s a certain curiosity when you’re in the public eye but I think it’s best to keep your personal life private and let your work be the priority.”
Reflecting on the year she had, Khushi said that she learnt a lot, especially since each film offers a lifetime worth of knowledge.
“I’ve learnt to believe in myself and what I have to offer. It’s easy to get swayed by what other people say, but self-confidence is one of the most important things for an actor and I’m definitely less fearful now of things that are not within my control. It has made such a difference in the way I approach work,” she added.
Khushi said she always knew she was going to enter the film industry because that was the environment she grew up in. With her father Boney Kapoor being a film producer and her mother Sridevi a successful actress, it was never a question. “At the dinner table, the only discussion would be films. During the day, I’d always be playing around mom and dad’s sets. In my free time, we would go to the movies and come back and enact everything for our family. There was no light-bulb moment because it’s the only thing I’ve thought about ever since I can remember.”
Khushi will be seen next in the Hindi remake of Tamil film Love Today. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is set to release on February 7, 2025.

Several fans were disappointed on not getting the tickets but were enraged when third-party sellers, like Viagogo, started selling tickets at exorbitant rates. Tickets that were originally priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 35,000 were being listed for Rs 30,000 to over Rs 7 lakh.
The Enforcement Directorate had launched an investigation into the alleged illegal sale of tickets. The Mumbai police also summoned the BookMyShow CEO Ashish Hemrajani for questioning.
In October, the ticketing platform filed an FIR over black marketing of Coldplay concert tickets.
