Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds Reunite for a New Kind of Super Team-Up After ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
After teaming in last year’s billion-dollar bromance Deadpool and Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are headed down under for another joint venture that will, hopefully, feature fewer grievous stab wounds. The duo are the new co-owners of Team Australia in the SailGP catamaran racing competition. Jackman and Reynolds made the announcement in a new video clip, which also revealed the team has been rebranded as the Bonds Flying Roos.
In the video, Jackman and Reynolds awkwardly introduce themselves before cutting to a clip explaining SailGP, scored to Men at Work‘s “Down Under.” SailGP is a racing competition where thirteen international teams compete all over the world, racing two-hulled sailing boats. The Bonds Flying Roos are three-time champions of the competition. After the narrator tells the superheroic duo “don’t f*** it up,” Jackman and Reynolds turn things over to Flying Roos CEO and driver Tom Slingsby. He’s excited to get them out in the water, even though Jackman claims that the hydrophobic Reynolds requires a life coach just to get in the tub. The video comes just in time for the Grand Final of the 2025 SailGP season, which will take place this weekend in Abu Dhabi from November 29-30.
Where Can Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds Be Seen Next?
This Christmas, Jackman is hitting theaters with Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue; they’ll play a husband-and-wife duo in a Neil Diamond tribute band in the new musical. Further down the road, he’s set to star in the offbeat mystery comedy The Sheep Detectives and will portray the last days of a legend in The Death of Robin Hood. Reynolds produced the new documentary John Candy: I Like Me, and is set to appear in the live-action/animation hybrid Animal Friends and the AppleTV survival adventure Mayday. He will also reprise his role as Deadpool in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, but will Jackman join him as Wolverine? Jackman will neither confirm nor deny, but has resolved to “never say never” when it comes to reprising his most iconic role.
This isn’t Reynolds’ first sporting venture. He co-owns the Welsh soccer team Wrexham with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Rob Mac (which is chronicled in the reality series Welcome to Wrexham), owns a stake in the Alpine Formula One racing team, and once pursued an ownership stake in the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators.
The Grand Final of SailGP’s 2025 season will take place this weekend, November 29–30, in Abu Dhabi. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
