Kelsea Ballerini Thought Chase Stokes ‘Would Work Long-Term’

The lovebirds who recently rekindled their romance after calling it quits for a short time have pulled the plug once more. While the former couple and fans thought this would lead to a blissful ending, expectations are once again the opposite of reality.

Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes started dating early in 2023 and made several public appearances together. Their relationship began shortly after the musician finalized her divorce, ending a five-year marriage.

Ballerini and Stokes are now on their second split within a very short timespan. Their romance was deep, and love filled the air. Following their recent breakup, it has come to light that Ballerini thought their relationship was really special and one of a kind.

She believed that they would build a long-term relationship as she felt deeply committed to him compared to her other past partners. Her relationship with Stoke, which began in January 2023, was the first after her divorce from ex-husband, Morgan Evans.

Although he was her first in a long time, she noted how different he was from other men and previously described him as “the most emotionally intelligent man” she knew.

A source who spoke to US Weekly disclosed that up until the singer met Stokes, she had not found anyone she was really compatible with. They continued, stating that the pair were deeply in love with each other, specifically Ballerini, who had “never loved someone like this before.”

Their romance blossomed before the public eye and behind closed doors. Ballerini revealed details of their intimacy while on an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in 2023.

She explained then that being with the actor intimately changed her thoughts about what she previously experienced in relationships. The singer recalled that her previous experiences were very performative, focused on the other person.

As a result, she did not understand how s-x could be a real connector in a relationship; instead, she always thought it was just something that people did. Being with Stokes changed her mindset.

Two years later, in September, the duo went through a hard split. They were reportedly arguing a lot, and their communication was disturbed.

Also, their busy schedules contributed to their struggles at the time because they kept piling up arguments as they traveled separately for their jobs and juggled everything.

Weeks later, they decided to give themselves a second chance at love, but things did not work out as they broke up again because the relationship became “so rocky and toxic.”

On November 20, Stokes shared an update to his Instagram stories, which crushed any hope fans had of a happy ending with his then partner. The Blast covered the story, noting that his post ignited breakup speculations once again.

“Don’t believe the media. I’m blocked, I did nothing wrong,” he wrote and followed the statement with another message: “Sorry [red heart emoji] I tried.” The former lovebirds no longer follow each other on Instagram, though neither of them has made an official statement announcing the breakup.

As if the news could not be any clearer, Stokes updated a second story, writing, “I’m sorry for those who believed in us. It is what it is. Onwards and upwards.” These posts sent the online audience spiralling and wondering about the details of what occurred between the lovebirds.

A few days before Stokes made a hint at the end of his relationship with his socials, he made a bold move in Ballerini’s Tiktok comments. The singer had uploaded a Tiktok video where she lip-synced some lyrics from the track of her new EP, “Mount Pleasant.”

The video showed the singer smoothly transitioning from a plain look into a strapless red dress paired with glossy red lips.  Her blonde, highlighted hair and makeup were on point, showcasing her beauty.
