Kevin Spacey Homeless And Drifting Between Hotels Amid Money Problems

Kevin Spacey says he is now essentially homeless, drifting between hotels after years of legal battles drained his finances and stalled his career.

Though acquitted in 2023 of sexual assault charges, the former A-list actor claims Hollywood continues to blacklist him.

Still, Kevin Spacey has begun slowly returning to the spotlight through performances and a Cannes gala appearance, where he criticized the industry’s continued rejection of him.

Spacey has revealed that he is effectively homeless, admitting he now drifts between hotels and short-term rentals as his finances continue to deteriorate.

The two-time Academy Award-winning actor, who was acquitted in 2023 of sexual assault charges involving four men in the U.K., says work has been scarce and his income has all but dried up.

In a new interview with The Telegraph, Spacey explained that he was forced to give up his longtime home in Baltimore, Maryland, where he had lived for more than a decade, and now has all his belongings packed away in storage.

“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” he said. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”

Spacey further revealed that his current situation oddly resembles the early days of his career.

“In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was,” he told the publication.

The actor continued, “Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”

While Spacey insisted he never formally reached bankruptcy, he admitted his financial situation is “not great.”

Despite his exile from Hollywood, Spacey insisted he has always felt the general public never fully turned against him.

“I have always felt the public was on my side, and understood what had happened, and were not buying into things that they were reading,” he said. “And I have always been enormously grateful for that.”

He compared his experience to the Hollywood blacklist era of the 1950s, when numerous actors, writers, and directors were barred from working over alleged Communist ties, many of whom, he noted, were later found to be innocent of the accusations.

The “American Beauty” star also shared that he’s confident a comeback is on the horizon.

“So, my feeling is if Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call Evan [Lowenstein, Spacey’s manager] tomorrow, it will be over,” Spacey noted. “I will be incredibly honoured and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone,” he continued. “And I believe it’s going to happen.”

Spacey’s career collapsed in 2017 after more than 30 men accused him of sexual misconduct, which led Netflix to fire him from “House of Cards,” effectively ending his long-running role.

He has denied all allegations. In 2023, he was acquitted of all charges at Southwark Crown Court, in one of the U.K.’s most high-profile #MeToo trials.

Since then, Spacey has been working to rebuild his career. He recently performed a one-night show at the Parklane Luxury Collection Resort in Limassol, Cyprus, titled “Songs & Stories.”

Backed by a jazz band, he mixed live music with anecdotes from his decades in entertainment. Tickets began at £220 [$290], while a £1,100 [$1,400] VIP package offered a meet-and-greet, champagne, and a photo op.

Organizers promoted the event as “the return of an entertainer in the grandest sense of the word,” comparing Spacey’s stage presence to that of legends like Sinatra and Dean Martin. Guests were asked to come dressed in cocktail attire for the 90-minute performance on November 15.
