Kim Kardashian Got Revenge Against Paris Jewelry Heist ‘Losers’

One thing about Kim Kardashian is that she never misses an opportunity to make a statement. She certainly did just that when she testified against the gang that had stolen from her nearly a decade ago.

After enduring the terrifying 2016 Paris heist that robbed her of millions in jewelry, Kardashian showed up to court ready to send a message and get her justice.

The robbery was carried out by a gang dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers” due to the members’ advanced age. Originally, twelve people were tied to the incident, but only ten stood trial. 

In a teaser for the upcoming episode of “The Kardashians” airing December 4, Kim disclosed her bold plan to testify draped in diamonds. As for her reason, she said, it was to “taunt the f— out of these losers,” per People Magazine.

True to her word, the businesswoman arrived at the Palais de Justice in Paris on May 13 sporting over $1.5 million worth of jewels. As The Blast previously covered, her shimmering look included a striking Samer Halimeh New York necklace, earrings paired with an $8,100 Briony Raymond ear cuff, and a large statement ring.

The bling stood out on its own and also complemented her black, sleek vintage John Galliano blazer dress, styled with Saint Laurent slingbacks and oversized Alaïa sunglasses.

Taking the stand with confidence, the “All’s Fair” actress recalled the terrifying incident in Paris. According to The Blast, the socialite explained that two men broke into her hotel room, tied her up with zip ties, and pointed a gun at her. 

She candidly admitted that she feared she was about to be assaulted or worse, even killed. The gang made away with several pieces, including her $4 million engagement ring from Kanye West. 

Only one necklace was ever found after the robbers accidentally dropped it while escaping on bicycles. A passerby picked it up and showed it off at work before realizing it was linked to the crime. That necklace, combined with DNA evidence, helped police track down the suspects.

Eight out of ten suspects were found guilty, but Judge David De Ne Pas opted against prison sentences due to the men’s advanced age and declining health. 

The judge admitted that the incident caused serious emotional damage, but he also pointed out that the defendants have tried to “rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.”

Their defense team added that since they’ve already spent some time in prison before, combined with their age and health issues, they won’t be sent back to jail. Instead, they have all been allowed to go home. However, one of them, Didier Dubreucq, alias “Blue Eyes,” died a month later from lung cancer.

Following the ruling, the SKIMS founder delivered a heartfelt message thanking French authorities for allowing her to testify and finally “put this to rest.”

She said, “This is my closure, this is me putting this hopefully to rest, to be able to see everyone, to be able to thank the French judicial system for figuring out this investigation.”

In her speech, she reflected on the experience, stressing that she wouldn’t wish it on anyone. She expressed hope that the people involved in the crime get support, change their lives, and never commit something like this again.
