I wish real life were more like 2024’s Sew Torn so I could weigh the pros and cons of my actions before I actually have to make a crucial life decision. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a crime thriller that plays with a branching narrative format, allowing its protagonist to consider the consequences before finally pulling the metaphorical and literal trigger on which path she wants to take. If you grew up with those choose your own adventure books, anxiously keeping your thumb on the page where the road forks in case you run into disaster and want to turn back unscathed, Sew Torn is right up your alley. In this case, whatever unfortunate reality unfolds isn’t your fault. You’re just along for the ride.
Half the fun in watching Sew Torn is witnessing how each scenario epically backfires before the realization sets in that maybe something more deterministic is at play. Or, even more interesting to consider, maybe our hero is spending too much time and energy making a decision at the wrong fork in the road altogether, setting off a chain of events that were never meant for her in the first place.

Sew Torn thrives on its quaint small town charm, which allows the increasingly absurd events to feel grounded because they unfold in such a contained world. Barbara (Eve Connolly) is a struggling mobile seamstress who is trying her hardest to keep her late mother’s business alive, even though she has completely lost her passion for the craft. The business specializes in talking quilts made possible by sound chips sewn directly into the upholstery, functioning much like those novelty greeting cards that play a recorded message when you open them.
Barbara is an immensely talented seamstress, and there’s something beautiful about someone who is so clearly good at what they do but no longer cares about it. It’s as if she has mastered her craft out of spite, living in the apartment above her business that is decorated with crisscrossing patterns of yarn and keepsakes operated by an elaborate pulley system she navigates effortlessly.

On her way back from an appointment to fix her only client Grace’s (Caroline Goodall) wedding dress, Barbara encounters two bikers who have clearly been involved in a violent altercation that resulted in a near fatal crash. She notices a briefcase in the middle of the wreckage and immediately runs through three possible scenarios in her head: commit the perfect crime, call the police, or drive away.
After Sew Torn’s initial setup, we get three acts that play out exactly like that. We learn that committing the perfect crime is far messier than Barbara anticipated, calling the police can spiral into potential disaster, and driving away comes with its own unexpected complications. What we don’t know is how any of these scenarios will ultimately end before we hit the same crossroads again and Barbara is forced to make a final decision.

Though these three scenarios result in wildly different outcomes, we are introduced to the same core players each time. The bikers Joshua (Calum Worthy) and Beck (Thomas Douglas), the ruthless crime lord they work for named Hudson (John Lynch), and the local sheriff Ms. Engel (K. Callan). Through these interactions, we learn everyone’s motives as viewers, but Barbara’s limited perspective prevents any of the information revealed to the audience from influencing her decision making in real time.
Quirky choose your own adventure framework aside, the real appeal of Sew Torn is just how absurdly talented Barbara is with her sewing kit. She’s like Mozart but with string. With a completely flat expression, her fingers work miracles as she constructs booby traps and escape methods using nothing more than spools of yarn, sewing needles, and a level of savant-like skill that only comes from begrudgingly mastering a craft to honor her mother’s wishes.

There’s real ingenuity on display as Barbara applies knowledge from the only world she knows to survive in unfamiliar and dangerous territory. I never once questioned the physics of what she pulls off in Sew Torn because Eve Connolly sells every moment with her deadpan, slightly bewildered delivery.

As the three separate stories unravel in Sew Torn, you’ll start wondering if there is even a single scenario where Barbara makes it out the other side in one piece. Half the fun is watching her try to determine whether that outcome is possible at all. The only way to find out Barbara’s fate in Sew Torn is to fire up Netflix, hit play, and let the yarn spin on its own terms.

Robert Carradine — the actor best known for his roles in “Lizzie McGuire,” “Revenge of the Nerds,” and “The Long Riders,” — has died after taking his own life after a nearly two decade battle with Bipolar Disorder.
In a statement to Deadline, Carradine’s family called him a “beacon of light” in a world that can feel dark, and described his struggle with mental illness as “valiant.” They said they hope his journey helps shine a light on the stigma surrounding Bipolar Disorder and asked for privacy as they grieve.
His older brother, Keith Carradine, said the family wants people to understand there is “no shame” in the illness that ultimately “got the best of him.” He remembered Robert as profoundly gifted, funny, wise and accepting, adding they will celebrate both his life and his strength in fighting the disorder for so many years.
Robert was the youngest son of legendary actor John Carradine and the brother of actors David and Keith Carradine, as well as Disney Imagineer Christopher Carradine. He made his big-screen debut in 1972 alongside John Wayne in “The Cowboys.”
Carradine went on to appear in Hal Ashby‘s Oscar-winning “Coming Home” with Jane Fonda and Jon Voight, and Martin Scorsese‘s “Mean Streets.”
His biggest pop-culture impact came in 1984, starring as head nerd Lewis Skolnick in “Revenge of the Nerds,” a role that defined a generation. Years later, he found new fans playing Lizzie’s dad on “Lizzie McGuire.”
Carradine is survived by his children, grandchildren, brothers and extended family.
Robert was 71.

UPDATE — 2/23/26, 6:15 p.m. ET: The pastor of the church attended by Caleb C. Flynn and his wife, Ashley Flynn has commented on her death after Caleb was accused of killing her in their Tipp City, Ohio home on February 16.
Jordan Paul Hansen, the pastor of the Christian Life Center, said in a statement shared to Facebook on Friday, February 20, that Ashley “was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished” church member.
“As the events surrounding this tragedy continue to unfold, we join you in the shock, sadness, and unanswered questions many are experiencing,” the statement read, in part.
Hansen said that Ashley had two daughters.
“Two young daughters have lost their mother, and a family continues to walk through profound grief,” Hansen wrote. “Please continue lifting them in prayer.”
Original story below:
The husband of an Ohio woman who was found shot dead inside her home following a reported burglary has been charged with murder in her death, authorities said.
Caleb C. Flynn, 39, was arrested the evening of Thursday, February 19, in connection with the killing of Ashley Flynn, 37, which occurred the morning of Monday, February 16, at their Tipp City home, according to a news release shared by the Tipp City Police Department.
Caleb appeared on the reality show American Idol in 2013.
Caleb is charged with one count of murder, two counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of tampering with evidence, court records viewed by Us Weekly show.
Caleb pleaded not guilty to the charges at an arraignment the morning of Friday, February 20, court records show.
His defense attorney, Patrick L. Mulligan, said in an emailed statement to Us on February 20 that Caleb “looks forward to defending this case.”
“We are both disappointed and concerned about the short timeline and seeming rush to judgment in this case,” Mulligan said. “When the government runs out of leads or can’t develop leads and looks at a surviving spouse in cases such as these, the chance of a wrongful conviction increases.”
Caleb and Ashley, who was substitute teacher and school volleyball coach, were church members of the Christian Life Center in Butler Township, where Caleb previously worked as a music pastor, the Dayton Daily News reported.
While working for his church’s music ministry, Caleb appeared on American Idol during the show’s 12th season, according to the newspaper.
In an interview on the show, the newspaper reported that he expressed his love for Ashley, saying: “I love my wife more than anything. She is very, very pretty. I love her.”
On February 16, Tipp City police said in an initial news release that offices arrived at the Flynns’ home around 2:31 a.m. that morning after “a reported burglary with a resident inside the home who had been shot.”
They found Caleb, Caleb and Ashley’s two children, and Ashley, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, Us previously reported.
Tipp City police noted that officers did not locate any potential suspects after securing the crime scene.
In an update issued later that day, the police department said the circumstances surrounding the investigation were a “complex situation.”
According to Caleb’s criminal complaint, he is accused of staging the crime scene on February 16.
The complaint states that he “murdered his wife” that morning and “officers were [led] astray by the staging of the crime scene.”
In a statement shared by Tipp City Schools on February 16, Ashley was remembered for “her beautiful smile, warmth, kindness, and the positive impact she had on so many.”
She previously taught for the school district before starting work as a substitute teacher, according to the district. She also coached Tippecanoe Middle School volleyball.
On February 19, the police department said, “As previously stated, the family and community deserve a thorough, professional, and compassionate investigation into this very sensitive matter.”
“As a result of the investigation, probable cause existed to charge Caleb Flynn with the murder of his wife,” the department added. “Due to the ongoing nature of this case, specific investigative details will not be released at this time.”
Caleb’s bond has been set at $2 million, court records show.
If he posts bond, he will be put on house arrest and electronic monitoring, and will not be allowed to see his children, according to court records.
Audrey Hepburn fans have mixed reactions to Lily Collins being cast as the iconic actress in an upcoming movie about the making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
“It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able share this,” Collins, 36, wrote via Instagram on Monday, February 23, alongside a Deadline article about her casting. “Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel.”
Friends of Collins celebrated the news in the comments section, with many noting that Collins is a perfect fit for the role due to her resemblance to Hepburn, who died in 1993 at age 63.
“I SWEAR TO GOD. I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS SINCE THE MOMENT WE MET!!! YESSSS!!!!!!🙌🙌🙌,” Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland commented.
Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale added, “Absolutely born for this 👏 so happy for you.”
Collins’ Emily in Paris costar Ashley Park wrote, “ESSSSSSS OFFICIALLLL BABYYYYY😍.”
On X, many fans of Hepburn debated whether or not Collins is the right fit for the role.
“Can Lily Collins really match the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s? 👀,” one person wrote.
Another user added, “Lily Collins is genuinely one of the few people who could pull this off without it feeling like cosplay. she has that same effortless elegance that made Hepburn iconic in the first place. the resemblance is almost unsettling.”
A third fan argued, “Seriously? They couldn’t find someone more fitting than her? This feels off.”

Many critics of the casting had hoped that Ariana Grande would portray Hepburn. (Grande, 32, has cited Hepburn as one of her fashion influences.)
In January 2025, the Wicked actress addressed rumors that she was set to play Hepburn in an upcoming biopic.
“Oh my goodness, why is everyone asking me this? You’re insane!” Grande told Access Hollywood at the time.
In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Grande added of potentially playing Hepburn, “That would have to be done so well and so perfectly … I don’t know.”
Back in 2024, Collins’ father-in-law, Malcolm McDowell, compared the Emily in Paris star to Hepburn.
“Lily is absolutely a star,” he told People at the time. “I’m in awe of her work. I think she’s one of the best young actresses around. I love watching her — she’s got that Audrey Hepburn kind of thing going, which is indefinable in a way, but it’s there.”
Hepburn rose to fame in the 1953 romantic comedy Roman Holiday. She went on to star in several famous films, including Sabrina (1954), Funny Face (1957) The Nun’s Story (1959), Charade (1963) and My Fair Lady (1964).
In 1961, Hepburn starred in the romantic comedy Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which follows socialite Holly Golightly as she meets a struggling writer who moves into her apartment building. Hepburn was nominated for Best Actress at that year’s Academy Awards for her role in the film.
Today, Hepburn is known as both a film and fashion icon.
In an era defined by singles, snippets, and endless scrolling, Paul Hennessy did something radically patient: he trusted listeners with abundance.
The Cost Of The Escape arrived all at once, twelve albums-144 songs, and in doing so, it quietly challenged assumptions about how modern audiences engage with music. Rather than asking for constant attention, the project offers permission. “I don’t have a preferred way,” Hennessy says. “That’s intentional.”

The work can be entered anywhere. One song in four minutes, an album in an hour, or the full sweep, experienced slowly over weeks or months. Hennessy likens it to standing at the edge of the ocean. “Some people will dip a toe. Others will let the currents carry them for a while. I leave that choice entirely to the listener.”
What’s striking is that listeners are choosing to stay. The project’s reach has grown not through spectacle, but through sustained engagement. Songs are being saved, revisited, and lived with. “That kind of engagement says something different than applause,” Hennessy observes. “It says, this mattered enough to keep.”

That response reflects the deeper purpose behind the scale. Hennessy wasn’t trying to outpace attention spans. He was acknowledging how storytelling has evolved. Entire seasons of television are binged, and the world moves fluidly between short-form and long-form narratives. “I don’t see that as a flaw,” he says. “I see it as a reality.”
Article continues below advertisement

The Cost Of The Escape was designed to exist within that reality. It functions both as individual moments and as an extended arc, with themes unfolding gradually. Freedom, for Hennessy, isn’t choosing between formats. “It’s about trusting the work to hold up at any distance,” he explains. “Zoom in or zoom out, it still needs to mean something.”
That trust is rooted in discipline. The hardest part of creating the project wasn’t emotional vulnerability, but consistency. “The real challenge wasn’t staying honest,” he says. “It was never sacrificing the work itself.” Every song had to earn its time. Hooks mattered, and ideas had to land. If a thought wasn’t true, it was discarded and rewritten.
Article continues below advertisement
That rigor shows in the details. In Bulletproof, a single line captures emotional contradiction: “If my love is bulletproof, then why am I afraid?” In A Large and Better Life, affection is offered without possession: “I’ll kiss you, and wish you a large and better life.” Other songs, like Life, strip experience down to repetition and weight, naming the grind without softening it. Different listeners gravitate toward different tracks, which Hennessy sees as essential. “That’s not a flaw in the project,” he says. “That’s the point.”

When Guinness World Records confirmed the release as the largest multi-album launch of its kind, the recognition expanded the conversation rather than concluding it. “What mattered more was that it created a platform big enough for the songs to actually be heard,” Hennessy reflects. Now, with the record behind him, the path forward feels open rather than heavy. “It feels like freedom,” he says, “but not the kind that sends you off alone.” Collaboration, curiosity, and continued craft are what excite him most.
In the end, The Cost Of The Escape offers company. Song by song, it traces what happens when we stop running long enough to listen and discover that meaning often waits right where we are willing to stay.
The former Duke and Duchess of York have faced scrutiny over their connection with Jeffrey Epstein, which has escalated following the release of Epstein-related files.
More recently, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, adding to his woes. As pressure mounts, the royal family has totally shunned them, but is there any redemption for the estranged couple?
Article continues below advertisement

In light of Andrew and Ferguson’s downward spiral, sources say there is no hope that they could bounce back, as their reputation has taken a serious hit. “There’s no real return to royal life,” one source told US Weekly, adding that the estranged couple is “very much in survival mode.”
With their inner circle cutting ties, the exes are now leaning on each other. “They are miserable,” the insider added, “and misery loves company.”
Following Andrew’s arrest, King Charles made it clear in his statement that the “law must take its course,” and now the source says he feels “validated” for distancing himself.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly “disgusted and appalled” with the situation, reinforcing their zero-tolerance approach to reputational risk.

Other members of the brood have also kept away. According to another insider, “No one has spoken to him since the latest batch of Epstein files was released.”
Andrew’s controversy has not only been a pain to his family but also to the royal institution at large. Royal expert Christopher Andersen explained that the British monarchy survives on public trust, but Andrew’s scandals have pushed it to the breaking point, sparking questions that need answers.
Crisis communications expert David E. Johnson chimed in that the fallout could even affect Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy, arguing that the public may wonder whether she should have taken action sooner.

Andersen shared another perspective, suggesting that Andrew could be regretting his mother’s death, noting that the late queen did her best to “shield her favorite son.” He pointed out that Andrew has since shown entitlement, believing he could avoid consequences because the queen would step in.
However, now, neither Andrew nor Ferguson can escape reputational damage, even if no formal legal charges are brought against them.

Andrew and Ferguson’s fallout has also taken a toll on their daughters, as they were said to be “horrified, devastated, and in a state of total shock” at Andrew’s detention.
An insider claimed Beatrice feels mortified and has faced intense public scrutiny in the U.K. Now, more than ever, the sisters are said to be supporting one another while maintaining distance from their parents.
“They don’t want to be associated with the scandal. They don’t spend a lot of time with Fergie and Andrew,” one source said.

As their daughters reportedly distanced themselves following Andrew’s detention on February 19, Ferguson remained noticeably silent, fueling speculation about her whereabouts.
The Blast reported that those close to her noted she is in a bad condition and was struggling with her mental health, fearing that the scrutiny would soon shift to her.
Days afterward, her location came to light. According to The Blast, Ferguson had quietly left the U.K. and admitted herself to the Paracelsus Recovery Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland, and has been there for a month.
The wellness facility is considered among the most expensive in the world, with rates reaching $17,500 per night.

As Ferguson takes on recovery, more dots are being connected about Andrew’s detention.
Per The Blast, former Met Police Chief Superintendent Dal Babu explained that police don’t usually need to arrest someone under investigation when they could simply request a statement.
In Babu’s view, Andrew being taken into custody suggests “significant evidence.” Babu further noted that taking a suspect into custody enables authorities to conduct property searches tied to the investigation, emphasizing that such a move is never made lightly.

As the fallout from Andrew and Ferguson’s troubles continues, their daughters are said to be confronting difficult truths.
As The Blast reported, a source alleged the sisters are “putting pieces of the puzzle together in real time and realizing they may have been used.”
The insider added that the realization has left them heartbroken and in despair, but they are said to still love their parents.
It has been announced that Coogler’s reboot of “The X-Files” is officially moving forward at Hulu, as the streaming service has formally ordered a pilot episode.

As the odds for him taking home his first Oscar increase, famed director Ryan Coogler also has some good news to celebrate on the television front.
According to Deadline, Hulu is officially moving forward with Coogler’s reboot of “The X-Files” by ordering a pilot. Oscar nominee Danielle Deadwyler is set for one of the lead roles, with Jennifer Yale as the showrunner.
From Hulu’s Onyx Collective and 20th Century Television, Coogler will write and direct the pilot. Per the outlet, the reboot of the original series is described as “two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”

Coogler previously spoke about “The X-Files” reboot last year and expressed his excitement at offering his take on the classic series.
“I’ve been excited about that for a long time, and I’m fired up to get back to it,” he said, per Deadline. “Some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really f-cking scary. We’re gonna try to make something really great and really be something for the real ‘X-Files’ fans, and maybe find some new ones.”

On Sunday, February 22, Ryan Coogler made history by becoming the first Black person to win a BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay for his box-office and critical smash “Sinners.”
As he received his award at the 79th annual ceremony, Coogler admitted that he was shocked to win, while also paying tribute to his fellow nominees.
“I’m nominated with some incredible writers,” he said. “I’ll share this with y’all… Y’all already won by being here.”
” Sinners” walked away from the event earning a total of three awards, including one for Best Supporting Actress for British star Wunmi Mosaku.

Per Deadline, “Sinners” shattered the previous Oscar nominations record last set by the 2016 musical drama “La La Land.”
“Sinners” earned a record-breaking 16 nominations across multiple categories at this year’s ceremony, including Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Director. Coming in right behind “Sinners” was the Paul Thomas Anderson drama “One Battle After Another” with 14 nominations.
With the “Sinners” recognition, Michael B. Jordan has earned his first Oscar nomination. Two of his co-stars in the film were also recognized for their work, as Delroy Lindo (Best Supporting Actor) and Wunmi Mosaku (Best Supporting Actress) were nominated as well.

In addition to Ryan Coogler being up for Best Director, “Sinners” is also up for Best Original Screenplay, Best Music Score, Best Song, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Makeup & Hair, Best Casting, and finally Best Visual Effects.

“I did not have any expectations when it came to the recognition of what they [the team] did,” he said. “For me, people just showing up to the movies and having a good time, that would’ve been enough. That is worth all the effort. But that people would consider the craft and the achievements that went into it individually. It’s so rewarding.”
The director, who has worked with Michael B. Jordan multiple times since their first collaboration making “Fruitvale Station,” also shared his happiness for the actor’s nomination.

“Obviously, the three of us have been working with Michael since 2012. So that’s a 14-year relationship. So to see him achieve this recognition by his peers, it’s just the best feeling to have. We just feel really, really, really happy that they said yes to the project, first of all, and happy for them,” Coogler said.

To date, “Sinners” has grossed $400 million globally and, as a result, broke a string of box office records along the way.
According to Screen Rant, the film became the highest-grossing R-rated film to debut during Easter weekend, earned the biggest opening weekend for an original R-rated horror movie since 2021, ranked in the ninth spot as the best opening weekend of all time for an R-rated horror movie, and the best opening weekend for an original movie in the 2020s.
Ethan Hawke showed his wild side during a recent question-and-answer session that has gone viral on social media.
The actor revealed that he enjoys eating in bed but joked that he doesn’t eat “food” there when asked about the pros or cons of the habit. Just a few days ago, he walked his daughter, Maya, down the aisle as she married Christian Lee Hutson.
Ethan Hawke shares the 26-year-old with Uma Thurman, to whom he was married from 1998 to 2005. The former couple also shares a son, Levon.

In a rare and risqué moment of honesty, Ethan Hawke gave a brief glimpse into his sex life during interviews with British Vogue and British GQ.
When asked a seemingly innocent question about whether it’s “bad to eat in bed,” the actor didn’t stick to the topic of snacks, choosing instead to reveal a side of himself usually reserved for the bedroom.
“Incredibly vulgar things are going through my brain right now,” the actor told the outlets after reading out the question.
“I like to eat in bed, but I don’t eat food,” he added, alongside a mischievous laugh that underscored his sexual innuendo.
Perhaps not wanting to push things further, Hawke chose not to elaborate on what he meant, leaving it to viewers to read between the lines.

He then moved on to the next question, which was also another food-related question.

The chat with the publications comes just days after the actor took on the ultimate fatherhood role of walking his 27-year-old daughter, Maya, down the aisle for her marriage to Christian Lee Hutson.
The Hollywood veteran shares the “Stranger Things” actress with his ex-wife, “Kill Bill” star Uma Thurman. The duo also welcomed a son, Levon, now 23, during their seven-year marriage.
For the star-studded ceremony at St. George’s Episcopal Church in New York on Valentine’s Day, Hawke arrived in a black suit, looking every bit the proud father, per Page Six.
He was also seen holding a bouquet of flowers, presumably on behalf of his daughter.
Meanwhile, Maya’s mother, Thurman, was also in attendance, looking elegant in a light blue floral ensemble paired with matching heels.

In November last year, Hawke reflected on his split from Thurman, which reports at the time suggested was due to infidelity.
He said that being celebrities made the breakup more complicated, but what made it truly difficult were the “family elements” involved.
“The public eye is like gasoline, but what makes divorce hard is the stuff that makes it hard for everyone — the family elements, how to help the kids through it,” Hawke said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times at the time.
“I’m so envious of people who have amicable splits,” the actor further remarked.

Hawke’s comment about how being a celebrity makes breaking up with someone complicated was echoed in his September interview with GQ.
At the time, the Hollywood star opened up about the media coverage surrounding his divorce from Thurman, noting that it greatly affected him, even when it was being talked about in a positive light.
“It’s almost humiliating even when they’re saying positive things,” he told the publication.

As for why Hawke has never fully detailed the circumstances of his split in interviews, it’s because of a promise he made to his children.
“I vowed to my kids so many times not to talk about the divorce in public,” he told the Los Angeles Times.
He went on to say that “staying married” is a challenge everywhere in the world, and that he feels lucky to have found a second love in his current wife, Ryan Shawhughes, with whom he shares two teenage daughters, Clementine and Indiana.
“But one thing I will say is if you get the privilege of traveling the world, you realize that everywhere men and women have a tremendous amount of difficulty staying married,” Hawke shared.

“When I split up, I was hellbent on not having any more kids, and I wanted to be single for the rest of my life. But then I made a best friend, and I liked kissing her,” he added.
A man in Florida has been arrested after he allegedly fatally shot his wife because he “would rather live in prison” than “deal with” her amid her battle with dementia.
Former police officer William Elwood Simmons was charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 83-year-old wife, Nancy Simmons, on Saturday, February 21.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Orlando, Florida, around 5:15 p.m. after a caller said his wife “was down and I’m just sitting here,” according to a probable cause arrest affidavit reviewed by Us Weekly.
Once deputies arrived at the home, they saw William, 80, waving them down in the garage. “I do know what happened, I did it,” he told them after they asked what occurred.
William was then asked if there were any weapons in the house, and he reportedly said, “Well, one on the floor. I put it there.”
Officers then entered the home, where they found the victim in the kitchen, dead from a gunshot wound. A shotgun was also on the floor with a spent shell casing, according to the affidavit.
William was taken into the police station for questioning, where he told cops that he “was guilty and he shot his wife.”
“He confirmed they were in the kitchen arguing over going on a cruise. Nancy told him multiple times ‘F**k you, you bastard’ which triggered Simmons,” the affidavit stated.
William said he then went to his bedroom and grabbed a shotgun from the closet. His wife said, “F**k you, you bastard” again before he shot her one time.
He told the officers that he dealt with her dementia for “far too long” and that he loved “the old Nancy.” He added “that he would rather live in prison than to deal with her.”
He is currently in custody at Orange County Jail after he was denied bail. It is not immediately clear if William has entered a plea or retained legal representation.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment.
Not much is known about William and Nancy’s relationship, including how long they were together or if they had kids. Additionally, it is not known when she was diagnosed with dementia.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Dementia is “a general term for loss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities that are severe enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia.”
If William is found guilty of first-degree murder, he could face either the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, the evidence and circumstances of the crime will ultimately determine his sentence.
The state of Florida has aggressively accelerated its use of the death penalty in recent years, and a record high of 19 people were executed in 2025. A death sentence is executed by lethal injection, according to the Florida Statues. However, the person who was sentenced to death also has the choice to be executed by electrocution.
Despite her pleas, Isabeau Levito did have to leave the Olympic Village eventually — but she managed to have some fun on the way out.
The Team USA figure skater shared a video of how she spent the last two hours before heading to the airport to fly home from Italy, and it was magnificent.
“How I choose to spend my last two hours in the Olympic Village before leaving for the airport,” Levito, 18, wrote over a video shared via TikTok on Sunday, February 22.
The video showed Levito driving a golf cart through a parking lot, weaving between cones and appearing to race another cart. She revealed in the caption that she had to stop when the poliza, or police, showed up.
The hilarious video comes after Levito went viral for saying “you can’t evict me” from the Olympic Village in an interview with NBC on February 16.
“I’ve spent every night in the [Olympic] Village. It’s been everything and more,” she said at the time. “I don’t think there’s anything not to enjoy. I haven’t even gotten to compete yet and I feel like my experience is already complete. Not complete, but I’m having a blast. The best time.”
Though she didn’t medal at the Olympics, Levito has talked extensively about how much the experience has meant to her.
“This has been like a fantasy. I really love being here,” she said after competing, according to Golden Skate. “Living in the village feels like being on a university campus, which is new to me. I’m a teen, so I’ve never been to university. Walking into the dining hall and seeing friends there, walking past the rings every day, and then getting to do what I’m passionate about, my skating.”
She continued, “Getting to be here with friends and meeting new people from different sports has been a wonderful experience. It feels like once in a lifetime because I’ve never experienced something like this before. And I don’t have a bad thing to say about it.”
Levito added that she felt like competing at the Olympics gave her “more energy” than usual.
“I don’t know if it’s because subconsciously I know I’m at the Olympics, or if it’s because the crowd is very energetic and supportive here,” she said. “But I felt it.”
Levito competed as one-third of the so-called Blade Angels, alongside fellow Team USA figure skaters Amber Glenn and Alysa Liu. Their Olympic run began in memorable fashion when Taylor Swift introduced them in a video that NBC shared via social media.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to Amber, Alysa and Isabeau. Three amazing showgirls on ice who will capture your heart with their stories,” Swift, 36, said in the clip, a reference to her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl.
“Her mom grew up in Milan,” Swift said of Levito. “And her Nonna, her grandma, lives exactly 13 minutes from the Olympic rink. When you can skate like you’re meant to be out there, history has a funny way of showing up.”
