Succession Star Stalked by Activist For Interviewing Far-Right Commentator

This week, actress Dasha Nekrasova was fired by her agency, Gersh. In addition to her acting roles, such as her turn on the third season of Succession, Dasha is co-host of a podcast called Red Scare, which offers cultural commentary and interviews guests. Dasha and co-host Anna Khachiyan recently interviewed political agitator Nick Fuentes, who is best known for having far-right views.

While Nick Fuentes is a polarizing figure, Dasha and Khachiyan have the right to interview whoever they want. As outrageous as it should be for an American to be fired by her employment agent over who she chose to interview on her podcast, there is more to this story that makes it sinister to the extent of harassment.

Gersh fired Dasha after a failed actor and producer named Jonathan Daniel Brown waged a cancellation campaign against her. Brown proudly takes credit for being the sole reason for her dismissal from the agency, which started with a “concerned note” to the agency in August 2023.

Brown followed the Red Scare podcast for over two years, noting every perceived incident of “wrongthink” and faithfully reporting them to Gersh, claiming the actress was promoting “hate speech” with views that inched more conservative as current events unfolded. He intensified his contact after Dasha and Khachiyan interviewed Fuentes in October.

When Gersh did not respond to Brown’s goading, he began posting his complaints on social media, tagging not only Gersh agents but also a reporter from the cinema trade magazine Deadline. He also contacted the producers of a movie-in-production called Iconoclast, in which Dasha was cast until Brown’s interference. Shortly after Gersh parted ways with Dasha, Brown claims that his contact is recasting her role in the Iconoclast. All in a day’s work for this “concerned citizen.”

Nick Fuentes is seen as absorbing the vacancy left in the wake of the Charlie Kirk shooting, but a second connection exists. Hopefully, Dasha’s cancellation serves as a warning about the kind of unhinged behavior exhibited by some, and not another chill on free speech in the name of “being kind.”
