The ‘Legend of Zelda’ Gets a Brand New Addition 1 Year Before the Live-Action Movie
Last year, LEGO released its first The Legend of Zelda set, The Great Deku Tree, priced at $299.99. This set won’t be the only one set in Hyrule, as Nintendo teased that more additions to The Legend of Zelda collection will be released in 2026, a year before the live-action movie adaptation hits theaters. Nintendo released a video on social mediafeaturing a different Link minifigure, with Zelda standing in the background, recreating a scene from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64. The video also teased that Ganon, the main antagonist of this video game franchise, may appear in this upcoming collection, but his LEGO look has yet to be revealed.
LEGO has launched a webpage for the upcoming Nintendo collection, but no products have been listed as of writing, so it’s currently unknown what the new additions to The Legend of Zelda collection will look like, aside from the fact that they’re coming out in 2026. The first Legend of Zelda set that LEGO released was The Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, which featured four minifigures, featuring one Zelda figure and three Link variants. Additionally, the tree can be built based on its appearance in Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild. The set is still available on the LEGO website, so now is a good time to get it before a new collection drops.
What Do We Know About the Live-Action Adaptation of ‘The Legend of Zelda’
The live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda was first announced in 2023 and is now in production. Just like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto is involved in the project’s production, and Wes Ball, director of The Maze Runner Trilogy, is directing the feature. At the moment, only two cast members have been confirmed to star in the feature. Playing Link is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who has appeared in Son of a Critch, Disney’s live-action Pinocchio, and The Sandman. And joining him is Bo Bragason, who’s cast as Zelda.
A full plot for the live-action Zelda film has yet to be shared, but the movie’s listing on the Film & Television Industry Alliance teased that Ganon will appear and that Link’s hero’s quest will have him solving puzzles, fighting monsters, and “exploring treacherous dungeons.” Production is scheduled to end in April 2026.
The Legend of Zelda live-action film is scheduled to come out in 2027. Follow Collider to stay up to date with the latest updates.
