“Tiger King” Joe Exotic announces prison engagement
FORT WORTH — Joe Exotic, made famous in the Netflix series “Tiger King” and currently serving time in federal prison, says he is engaged to a fellow inmate in Texas and hopes to get married.
Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado, is currently incarcerated at Federal Medical Center Fort Worth. He submitted a marriage application to the federal prison to wed fellow inmate Jorge Marquez Flores, he announced in a news release Wednesday.
Maldonado was convicted in 2019 on 21 counts, including 19 counts of wildlife crimes and two counts of hiring hitmen to kill animal activist Carole Baskin. He is serving a 21-year sentence.
His fiancé, 33-year-old Jorge Marquez Flores, originally from Mexico, is serving time for immigration-related issues, according to Maldonado’s news release.
According to Maldonado, both men are optimistic the prison will approve their application and have “high hopes” that Maldonado’s appeal will succeed. He hopes the two would be released from prison in mid-2025.
In his news release, Maldonado also requested a presidential pardon for both he and Flores, as well as asylum for Flores.
“I wish someone that is President or wins the Presidency would do the right thing and pardon me so I could move past this nightmare that my own country has caused for the last 7 years of my life,” Maldonado wrote in the news release. “All I did was build a zoo and some people were very jealous. Then I was put into prison by my own country.”

Alesha Dixon sparks BGT feud rumours as she reveals close friendships with only two of her fellow judges
BRITAIN’S Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon has sparked rumours of trouble in the judging panel as she’s hinted that she’s not friendly with all of her co-stars.
The former singer and dancer, who has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent since 2012, has revealed two of her fellow judges are close friends – but not addressed her third co-star.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Alesha Dixon explained: “Actually, I consider Simon and Amanda family now.
“Our children hang out together and we see each other outside of the show.”
She added: “There’s a genuine love and friendship there that has built over the years and I cherish that.”
She didn’t mention the newest judge to the scene Bruno Tonioli, who joined the ITV show last year as a replacement for David Walliams.
Whilst not sharing any issues amongst the four judges, Alesha did add: “As somebody who has worked in the industry for a long time, I do know that sometimes you can appear on screen to be friendly with somebody, but that might not be the case behind the scenes.”
The comments come as head judge and entertainment mogul Simon Cowell stepped back from this year’s auditions last month after the shock death of One Direction star Liam Payne.
A spokesman for the programme’s producer, Freemantle UK, confirmed they were pausing auditions when the shock news of Liam’s death broke.
In a statement they said: “Due to the tragic passing of Liam Payne, we have decided to postpone the Britain’s Got Talent auditions. Our thoughts are with Liam’s friends, family and all who loved him.”
Simon, who famously created One Direction, called off the Blackpool auditions shortly after discovering the awful news.
Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, KSI and Bruno then later continued filming, with KSI stepping in for Simon to allow auditions to continue.
A source said: “This news has hit Simon incredibly hard – he is utterly shocked and devastated.
“He adored Liam, and was close to his family with whom he is sure to reach out privately. He didn’t feel it was right to continue with filming BGT, and when it resumes on Saturday, does not feel he’ll be in the right head space to continue.
“All the judges and production crew are being hugely supportive.”

Anton Du Beke mocks his own Strictly outfit as viewers say he ‘looks good’
Anton Du Beke has posted a selfie of himself with Rod Stewart after dressing as the legendary Scottish singer on 2 November episode of Strictly Come Dancing which the judge himself mocked.
The show introduced its first ever “Icons Week” which saw the contestants and their professional partners dance to memorable tunes from music legends such as Tina Turner, Queen, The Beatles, Shirley Bassey and KISS.
It wasn’t only the dancers that dressed up as musical icons with the judges also getting in on the fun with Shirley Ballas dressing as Cher, Motsi Mabuse as Tina Turner and Craig Revel Horwood as Barry Gibb from The Bee Gees.
Perhaps the best was Du Beke who seemed to fully embody Rod Stewart, complete with a blonde mullet and leopard skin suit, although the judge later admitted that he looked more like Bet Lynch from Coronation Street.
It appears that Du Beke might have got some first hand help from Stewart himself, with the 58-year-old posting a picture of himself with Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster.
On X/Twitter, Du Beke wrote: “Get ready to tune in tonight at 6:30pm – we’re all very excited as it’s Icon week here at @bbcstrictly! And look who’s here… such a pleasure to catch up with the wonderful Penny Lancaster and… my icon for the evening… Sir Rod Stewart!”
It appears that Du Beke’s outfit has divided viewers as well with some applauding him with others being less than impressed.
One impressed viewer wrote: “Why does Anton look good dressed as Rod Stewart?”
“Loving Craig as Barry Gibb, Motsi as Tina Turner, Shirley as Cher and Anton as Rod Stewart,” said a second person.
A less than impressed viewer joked: “Anton is Rod Stewart…..I thought he was Charlie Mullins from Pimlico plumbers…”
A fourth said: “Anton looks nothing like Sir Rod Stewart.”

Emotional Miranda Hart makes surprise Strictly appearance to support co-star Sarah Hadland after secret wedding
MIRANDA Hart has made an emotional cameo on this week’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The actress made an appearance in the rehearsal VT showing the efforts of fellow actress and best friend Sarah Hadland and professional dancer Vito Coppola.
In the clip, Miranda was seen sneaking into the couple’s rehearsals for their latest routine for Icons Week on Strictly Come Dancing.
The pair, who have repeatedly received high scores each week, were practising their Cha-Cha-Cha to Madonna‘s ‘Like a Prayer’.
Jokingly ‘choreographing’ her best friend, an emotional Miranda then showered Sarah with praise as she told her: “It’s an amazing experience, I feel lucky, like I have won a prize.”
The appearance comes as BBC bosses are said to be keen to entice Miranda to join a future series and are using Sarah to make it happen.
More on Strictly Come Dancing
The Call the Midwife actress is said to be on BBC bosses hit list with their hopes lying with Sarah to impress her co-star and pal to sign up next year.
An insider told The Mail on Sunday: “Sarah and Miranda used to watch Strictly at home together before Sarah was on it.
“It was their joint dream to be on [the show]. Ultimately, Miranda would love to go on the show.”
They added: “The BBC is desperate to get the big names back on the show.
“If they could tempt Miranda onto it, then it could encourage other big celebrities to do it again.
“Sarah is their hope because she’s so close to Miranda.”
Miranda’s appearance also comes after last month she shocked fans as she revealed she’d secretly got wed, and kept her new marriage firmly out of the spotlight.
The BBC favourite revealed she had secretly got married following a debilitating health battle as she spoke in a recent interview.
Appearing on The Graham Norton Show, Miranda gave fans more details as she told how her diagnosis with Lyme disease made her want to find love.
She said: “I had my diagnosis during the pandemic, and it was a very lonely time, so I decided I didn’t want to be alone anymore.
“So I put out this little prayer with about one percent of hope, but I met someone and got married in July.”

Towie star reveals cruel trolls threatened to ‘petrol bomb’ his home as he opens up about show backlash
A STAR of The Only Way Is Essex has revealed vile trolls threatened to ‘petrol bomb’ his home.
Appearing in the programme until 2021, he opened up about receiving backlash.
Bobby Norris debuted on Towie in 2012 and stayed until announcing his departure almost a decade later.
Speaking on FUBAR Radio‘s “Politics Uncensored”, Bobby addressed facing severe online abuse – largely due to his sexuality.
The star, who is openly gay, said: “I love social media, but I’ve been through it, and this is something actually.
“I’m not sure if a lot of people will know, but I think back in I think 2019, I was on a big reality show at the time, and was receiving a huge amount of abuse on social media, predominantly because of my sexuality.”
Bobby continued to host Ellen Coughlan: “There was this one, I think another death threat come through.
“And when I say that it sounds so flippant, but it was literally just another one was outside my house and was going to petrol bomb me.”
Although Bobby acknowledged he has “a thick skin”, he admitted his younger self would have struggled with the abuse.
The reality star revealed how he campaigned for legislation for a number of years after creating a petition from his bedroom.
Following Bobby’s years of effort – including several visits to Parliament – the Online Safety Act became a law.
He commented: “It’s been in law for one year now, yeah, to put an aim to or to have some kind of legislation around how people can speak online.”
Meanwhile, Bobby has continued to have a presence on television since leaving Towie.
Earlier this year, he starred in the gruelling Channel 4 show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Having debuted in 2015, the programme simulates an SAS selection process.
Both celebrities and civilians have tried completing the challenging course.
Bobby remained into the latter stages before departing in the penultimate episode.
He sustained an injury during a wrestling match with Love Island star Ovie Soko.
After the challenge, Bobby requested to see a medic – and found out he’d be giving up his armband.
The medical professional told him: “Your mobility is going to get more restricted, and you’re going to be at risk of doing yourself more damage.”

Amy Dowden’s reaction to JB Gill’s near perfect score has Strictly fans ‘heart broken’
Strictly Come Dancing fans were left in tears at Amy Dowden’s reaction to her partner JB Gill getting a near perfect score from the judges with his replacement partner Lauren Oakley.
Dowden was unable to take part in this week’s show after falling ill last week and being rushed to hospital. An ambulance was summoned to Elstree Studios in Borehamwood on 26 October after Dowden fell ill backstage after her dance and was taken to hospital. A spokesperson for the dancer later said that the ambulance was “just a precaution”.
Oakley stepped in to replace Dowden for this week’s show with her and Gill dancing to a couple’s choice medley of Bruno Mars songs.
The couple, despite being relatively new to each other, wowed the judges with their routine scoring a near perfect 39 points. An emotional Dowden joined Gill and Oakley as they celebrated the remarkable score and there wasn’t a dry eye on the house.
At home, viewers were equally emotional. “Anyone else in their feels for Amy?” asked one person.
A second person said: “Seeing Amy cry has made me cry. She should’ve been on that dance floor.”
“Aww, Amy crying,” said a third viewer.
A fourth emotionally added: “Amy Dowden is breaking my heart. It sucks to watch people doing fun things and living life and having your body keep you excluded on the sidelines.”
After co-host Claudia Winkleman asked Dowden if it was a team effort this week, the Welsh dancer replied: “Yeah, it’s been a real dream team, even to the point where Lauren put in on chat: ‘J, do you want a coffee?’ To which I replied: ‘Yes, you’ll have a vanilla latte.’”
Dowden appeared on the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Friday (1 November), after it was revealed earlier this week she will not be dancing in this Saturday’s live show.
Dowden, 34, who only returned to the competition this year following treatment for breast cancer, told host Janette Manrara she is feeling “much better”.
Oakley, who came eighth when partnered with Channel 4 News host Krishnan Guru-Murthy in Strictly’s previous season, did not have a partner this year. She first joined the show in 2022.
