Gladiators star Falcon leaves eye-watering sum in will after dying from cancer, aged 59
Gladiators star, Bernadette Hunt better known as Falcon, left a huge sum of money to her family in her will after dying from cancer in 2023, aged 59.
Hunt took on the persona of Falcon in the hit 1990s ITV series, which was recently revamped by the BBC, first appearing on the programme in season two in 1993, and was a regular cast member until her departure in 1999.
Hunt battled cancer for several years before her death, with her passing being confirmed by her sister’s partner, Rick Jango, in a Facebook post, paying tribute to the star.
It has now been revealed that her son Adam and daughter Angel received £300,000 in her will.
Left to her estate was £444,000, which was reduced to £293,000 after debts and costs were removed, according to probate documents seen by The Sun.
Falcon was a major feature of Gladiators during her time on the show, alongside the likes of Jet, Lightning, Amazon, Saracen, Rhino, Cobra and Wolf.
Hunt quickly became a fan favourite after specialising in events such as “Joust”, “Powerball” and “Tilt” and making her entrance to the Queen song “Breakthru”.
After leaving the show in 1999, Hunt became a personal trainer in her hometown of Basingstoke and reportedly turned down the opportunity to return as Falcon when Sky rebooted Gladiators in 2008.
She also became a fundraiser for charities such as Help the Aged and Children with Leukaemia.
In his tribute, Jango wrote: “It is with great sadness that I have to tell you of my partner’s younger sister, Bernadette Hunt.
“Most people will remember her as ‘Falcon’ from the hit TV Show Gladiators.
“I had the privilege to be in her company a few times and I have to say she was one of the most loveliest people I have ever met.”

“She never had a bad word to say about anyone, indeed she was always known as the nicest ‘Gladiator’, always stopping to speak and sign autographs for anyone.
“She had been battling cancer for a number of years until sadly she lost her fight. RIP Bernie.”
In response to the post, fans shared their condolences as well as memories of Hunt in the local Basingstoke community.
“Sorry to hear Bernie’s passed on, was always lovely when I saw her at the gym,” reads one comment.
Another person shared her sadness about the news and added: “Bernie was just the loveliest person. So warm and friendly.”
A third offered: “Always took the time to stop and chat in the gym. She got the whole family tickets for Gladiators too.”

Big Brother removes ITV episode to edit out housemate’s pro-Palestine T-shirt
Big Brother has sparked controversy for pulling an episode from ITVX and re-uploading it after a contestant was seen wearing a pro-Palestine T-shirt.
Contestant Ali Bromley, 38, who is a forensic psychologist, wore a top depicting a map of Israel as a watermelon on the show’s Tuesday, 22 October episode.
The symbol, which is in the colours of the Palestinian flag, has become associated with the pro-Palestine movement amid the ongoing Gaza conflict, which has killed more than 42,000 people since 7 October.
Bromley’s T-shirt has been reported to be a “Freedom Melon Tee” from Wear The Peace, which donates all of its proceeds to the charity Pious Projects of America, who use the funds to supply medical aid, food, water and other necessities to people in Gaza.
The Big Brother contestant’s outfit choice quickly caused outrage, with The Campaign Against Antisemitism complaining to Ofcom, saying: “How is this becoming the norm?”
It continued: “This graphic has caused significant distress among the British Jewish community, who regard it as a genocidal message similar to the slogan ‘From the River to the Sea’, which calls for the elimination of the world’s only Jewish state.
“How did the show’s staff allow this shirt to be worn, let alone broadcast it on national television? This incident represents a serious violation of broadcasting standards.”
The Big Brother episode was removed from ITVX on Tuesday night and re-uploaded to the streaming service on Wednesday with Bromley’s T-shirt edited to be plain black.
A spokesperson for Big Brother told The Independent: “All Housemate items are checked by our production team before they go into the Big Brother House to ensure they comply with the Rules and compliance requirements.

“Big Brother does not allow any personal items into the House that could be deemed harmful. We regret that the implications of this particular item of clothing were not fully understood in our bag checks or prior to the broadcast of last night’s show.
“We apologise to any viewers who have been offended by the broadcast and assure viewers that Big Brother was unaware of the implications of the image. The item of clothing has been removed from the House.
They continued: “The Housemate has been spoken to and they have expressed that they are unaware of the implications and did not wish to cause any harm or offence.
“Any offensive messaging associated with the image does not reflect the values or beliefs of Big Brother.”
ITVX also took to X/Twitter on Wednesday (23 October) to address Tuesday’s episode disappearing online, saying: “Regarding your question about last night’s Big Brother show, we have some news, it will be available to view later this evening.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this but the wait will be worth it.”

Love Island star looks unrecognisable after transforming into Pamela Anderson — can you tell who it is?
ONE former Love Island star has pulled out all the stops and turned herself into Baywatch pin-up Pamela Anderson.
Scouse bombshell Samantha made her mark in the villa when she hooked up with Joey Essex – but was later pied for a fellow blonde.
The Love Island 2024 contestant has transformed into Pammy and aptly called herself ‘Sammy Anderson’.
The 26-year-old posted the provocative pictures on Instagram posing in a series of shots emulating the Barb Wire star.
Wearing a black latex bodysuit, the star shocked fans with her similarity to the actress in the 1996 superhero movie.
The outfit was topped off with on-point accessories including long black leather gloves and of course the barb wire arm tattoo.
With heavy make-up, dark lip liner and skinny brows, the Love Island contestant nailed the iconic 90’s look.
Her long blonde hair was curled and appeared big and bouncy, with a classic Pam-inspired fringe.
Fans commented: “The brows, the dedication.” A second added: “Just passed out.” Others simply commented: “Wow!”.
Former make-up artist Sam made an impression on fans during her short time in the villa.
Viewers were devastated when the Liverpool lass got cruelly dumped from the island in favour of Joey Essex’s old flame, Grace Jackson.
Samantha had spent two weeks with the ex Towie star and thought the pair had formed a strong connection.
But Joey immediately had his head turned when ex Grace entered the villa and quickly ditched her Samantha, leaving her single.
Speaking about her time being cut short, she said on her exit: “Obviously I am devastated to leave all of the girls behind.
“But I am very excited now to see what my future holds and look forward to seeing what is next.
“I was true to myself and didn’t feel like it was a waste of my time because I followed what I felt was right for me.
She went on: “When it comes to Joey, I think if I knew what I know now, I perhaps would have done things differently.”
The fiery star re-entered the villa along with former islanders to cast their votes as the final approached.
Samantha returned and was ready to settle an old score with Joey.
As drama ensued around the fire pit, Samantha clawed: “It is a really hard decision, I haven’t met half of you because I was only here for two weeks.”
Samantha continued: “I do think he has a lot of opinions on everyone else’s relationship but as soon as it comes to his own he bites the bullet a bit doesn’t he.
“Personally, I don’t think that this person deserves to be in the final so I’m picking Jess and Joey.”
Maya then asked if Joey wanted to respond and he said: “It was nothing ever personal on my end, there’s no hard feelings.
“I was sad when she left, she might feel different about me.”
But a furious Samantha hit back: “You were lying to my face for two weeks,” leaving Joey confused.
She went on: “You saying to me we were one of the strongest couples in here and saying that you liked me as much as I liked you but then saying to Grace it was a friendship couple.”
Since the show, Sam has been getting close to a fellow 2024 Love Islander months after leaving the show.
According to insiders, she’s been enjoying dates in London with Hugo Godfroy, who joined the show during Casa Amor and had a short-lived romance with Sam’s in-villa love rival, Jess White.
She has recently come back from Ibiza, where she posted a string of sizzling pics from her trip.

Married At First Sight’s Kieran kisses another bride – leaving wife Kristina in tears
MARRIED At First Sight’s Kieran Chapman makes a shock move and kisses another bride in the first look at tonight’s episode.
During the dinner party, the cheeky mechanic positioned himself between pal Adam and his wife Polly, before leaning forward and giving her a peck on the lips.
The surprise smooch appeared to be in jest, with both barber Adam and Kieran laughing it off.
But Kieran’s wife Kristina didn’t appear to be in on the joke and watched on with a bemused expression on her face.
As Kieran made his way back to her, she said: “Did you just kiss another wife?”
Then away from her co-stars, she broke down in tears and told the camera: “I’m gutted.”
The drama came thick and fast last night, culminating in another couple’s shock exit from the show.
Ryan Livesey and Sionainn Carmichael had appeared to be getting on well, but the heartbroken bride revealed that she felt uncomfortable in the relationship and claimed her husband had told her he was ‘faking it all’.
Breaking down in tears, she felt Ryan was a different person behind closed doors, which reminded her of an unhealthy past relationship.
The Sun told last week how Ryan had left the experiment and that viewers would be shocked when they found out why.
But the pair both appeared to tell rather different stories about what had gone on between them – leaving viewers baffled and concerned.
Ryan said: “I’m leaving boys. We’ve had a proper argument and I was trying to do my laces. I was trying to retie my laces and it was getting on my nerves. So Shannon was trying to help me. So I said, ‘oh, just leave him, just leave them now’.
“And she said, ‘oh, don’t speak to me like that’.
“She said to me she doesn’t feel comfortable in the relationship and she doesn’t know if I’m here for a genuine reason. “
While Sionainn told the girls: “We had like a little fall out yesterday. And it was like, honestly over shoelaces, he just spoke to me really, really poorly.
“And I said, ‘Ryan don’t speak to me like that. You’re not going to speak to me like s**t’.
“And it just flipped. He decided to tell me that none of his feelings had ever been real. He’d been faking it all. It was all a holiday romance for him.”
Speaking on camera, the devastated bride added: “I developed real feelings for Ryan and when he told me all his feelings were fake and he didn’t mean anything that he said.
“I feel like I’d been hit in the chest with something. It was a horrible feeling. And I think now I’ve seen the real side to him. I don’t even think I’ve known the real Ryan ever.”
Earlier in the process, viewers were convinced that Sionainn couldn’t stop shaking and feared it could be due to some unseen issue with her husband.
The couple told the experts of a misunderstanding they’d had, with Sionainn revealing something Ryan did reminded her of an ex-boyfriend, prompting her to “panic” and flee.
Both decided to stay in the experiment, with Ryan gushing about his bride and Sionainn saying he’d turned her into a “soppy mess”.

Amanda Abbington hits back at Giovanni Pernice after Strictly pro’s comments on scandal
Amanda Abbington has responded with a very frank statement after Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice gave a candid interview about his experience working with her on the show.
The public back and forth comes after the results of a long-awaited BBC investigation were revealed, with six of the 17 complaints against Pernice being upheld.
Pernice recalled his last exchange with the Sherlock star before she dramatically quit the show in the middle of filming. He insisted that they had shared a “very rude banter” from the beginning of their working relationship and that their last interaction had been on good terms.
Abbington has hit back at those claims, calling them “delusional”.
“Mr Pernice’s claim that ‘everything in the rehearsal room worked perfectly’ is false and delusional, and underlines the toxic culture Ms Abbington endured on Strictly Come Dancing,” her representatives said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
“The BBC’s own investigation concluded that Mr Pernice was in breach of multiple BBC Policies, including repeated breaches of the Anti-Bullying and Harassment Policy. Mr Pernice was spoken to by the BBC on several occasions about his misconduct – but his behaviour only continued.”
The statement continued, “At no time did Ms Abbington regard his verbal abuse or inappropriate behaviour as banter. This is precisely the kind of gaslighting behaviour which victims of bullying and harassment often have to endure: it’s these people Ms Abbington will continue to speak up for.”
Abbington’s representatives also shared that the actor had been left “concerned” with the way her complaint was handled by the BBC.
She revealed that she will be meeting with the corporation to discuss the way that it had been handled, particularly with the media. It comes after the star said she is considering further action about specific allegations such as the claim that Pernice made a shocking sexual gesture towards her.
“Ms Abbington remains concerned about the way the inquiry into her complaint was handled by the BBC,” the statement continued. “And the leaking of the investigation report to the press, and will be meeting with the Corporation in due course to raise these in more detail.”

The 50-year-old pulled out of the BBC One show last year and later filed complaints of verbal bullying and harassment against her professional dance partner Pernice, and revealed she had endured PTSD as a result of the experience.
The BBC’s months-long investigation into his conduct acknowledged Abbington’s complaints of verbal bullying and harassment but concluded that the Italian dancer was not physically aggressive to his celebrity partner.

Love Island’s Demi Jones ditches her underwear and wears very sexy sheer dress for film premiere
LOVE Island star Demi Jones has sent pulses racing after ditching her underwear before walking the red carpet.
Demi, 26, was snapped in a sexy lace dress at a film premiere and her lack of bra left very little to the imagination.
Demi’s floor-length gown featured a big velvet bow to cover her modesty and she teamed it with matching long gloves.
She also hid her nipples with strategically placed stick-on pasties.
The reality star was photographed at the premiere for Venom: The Last Dance, which was held at the BFI IMAX in London.
Demi’s Halloween-inspired dress was a perfect fit for the occasion, too.
Brit actor Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock in the final instalment of the Marvel trilogy.
Eddie is a journalist who plays current host to the terrifying extraterrestrial symbiote Venom.
The Spider-Man spin-off will hit cinemas in the UK on Friday (October 25) and the stars were out in force to celebrate its release.
Demi was on the red carpet alone, however, after keeping quiet about her private life over the past few months.
In August, we confirmed that Demi was still dating her jailbird boyfriend Miami.
It also transpired that the fiery redhead was even in a relationship with him when she took part in this year’s Love Island All Stars in January.
Their relationship might have been why Demi – who was coupled up with Louis Morrison – was dumped from the villa so swiftly.
Miami – real name Kai – was released from prison in April after 26 months inside and he was spotted with Demi in August at an Arsenal game.
A month earlier, they were also seen looking very cosy at an event while trying – and failing – to stay under the radar.
An insider said at the time: “Demi and Kai spend a lot of time together. They don’t like to make a deal about it but the connection is still very much there.”
However, since August, Demi has remained tight-lipped about her love life and failed to mention Miami on her social media profiles.
As a result, it is unclear whether they are still in a relationship.
Although she didn’t have an official date for the premiere, Demi was in good company.
She was joined at the glitzy showbiz bash by fellow Love Island alumni Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble.
But it was leading man Tom Hardy who stole the show, alongside Venom actress Juno Temple, who plays Dr. Payne.
Juno also sizzled on the red carpet in a black dress with huge cutout detailing on the torso.

Cat Deeley comforted by Ben Shephard as she breaks down in tears on This Morning
Cat Deeley was comforted by Ben Shephard as she struggled to hold back tears on Wednesday’s episode of This Morning (23 October).
The presenter, who rose to fame in the Nineties and Noughties for presenting SMTV Live alongside Ant and Dec, was given a caterpillar cake with her face on it by her co-host Shephard to celebrate her 48th birthday.
Deeley was left emotional after Shephard revealed that renowned British poet Pam Ayres had composed a personalised poem to celebrate the occasion. She explained that she had been woken up at 5:30am to be presented with birthday cards by her family.
“I got up at 5.30, there were cards made,” she said on the show.
“There was one where we were all swimming underwater and they’d made it. It said, ‘take a deep breath, mum, you’re getting old’. They thought it was the funniest thing on the planet.”
After confirming her age, Shephard joked “You don’t look a day over 47! You look amazing. I think any opportunity to celebrate birthdays is very important.” He then went on to reveal the surprise gift the show had organised for the host.
Ayres read the poem to Deeley later in the programme saying, “We mustn’t forget people’s birthdays – the one day in all of the year for making somebody feel special, and those far away to feel dear.”
She continued, “To get out of bed in the morning to see all the cards on the mat, from all of the folk who remembered, well that’s nice – well you can ask Cat!
“No we mustn’t forget people’s birthdays, that is the wrong thing to do. So with speed uppermost, pop a card in the post, and then they might send one to you.”
Deeley was overjoyed at the reading as she thanked the poet for the gift.
She said: “Thank you so, so much and I’m so glad that you read it for me as well because it’s [Ayres’ poems] so intrinsically part of my childhood.”

Meanwhile, the 77-year-old said: “I don’t like other people reading my poems. No, I don’t, I want to get them by the throat and say, ‘You’re doing it all wrong, give it back’.
“I don’t know, some people just don’t see how it’s supposed to bounce along. So I was glad to do it myself.”
The TV presenters took over from ex-hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby who left the programme in 2023 after 14 years. Schofield resigned after admitting to having a relationship with a teenage crew member who had started working at the show when he was aged 15. Schofield admitted the affair was “unwise, but not illegal”.
Meanwhile, Willoughby left shortly after and has remained away from the public eye following a thwarted kidnap, murder and rape plot.
