Gregg Wallace probed over making inappropriate sexual comments to female staffer leaving his MasterChef future in doubt

GREGG Wallace’s future on MasterChef was under fire last night after it emerged he was probed over inappropriate sexual comments to a female BBC staffer.

Bosses rapped the host in 2018 for taking off his top and bragging about romps, we can reveal for the first time.

He was also accused of being rude and insulting to women on a different show in 2023.

Last week the BBC pledged to clean up bad behaviour.

But an insider questioned why Wallace was allowed to stay on the flagship cookery show “despite allegations about his conduct”.

The BBC will now face fresh questions as to why the 59-year-old was kept on despite its vow to clean up its workplace culture after a string of scandals.

Insiders told The Sun concerns were raised about his behaviour six years ago — when he was accused of making “inappropriate sexual comments” to a female staffer on BBC game show Impossible Celebrities.

He was hauled into a meeting after claims he boasted about his sex life and took his top off in front of the woman, “mortifying” members of the production team.

Wallace was then hit by allegations last year that he spoke to women in a “derogatory” manner while filming BBC’s Inside The Factory.

A source said: “There are questions to be asked about the decision to allow Gregg to continue on MasterChef despite these previous incidents.

“The BBC say they are keen to clear up issues around workplace culture but have allowed Gregg to remain on a flagship show despite allegations about his conduct.”

The 2018 incident was unreported until an insider contacted The Sun after the BBC’s launch last week of a review into workplace culture, with a vow to tackle “abusive behaviour”.

Wallace was reported to BBC chiefs for making “consistent inappropriate comments” to the younger woman while they worked on Impossible Celebrities, a panel show.

They also claimed that audience members allegedly overheard comments made by Wallace, who said it was “just banter”.

A source told The Sun last night: “Gregg was accused of making inappropriate comments to a younger, female member of the production team.

“He is said to have been boasting about his sex life with his partner at the time. At one point, Gregg was also accused of taking his top off in front of the woman which felt inappropriate. Gregg appeared to think it was all just banter and is also said to have made some comments in front of the live audience.

“The team working on the show were mortified and told BBC top brass what had happened.”

Ordered to change behaviour

Wallace, who has been married four times, was then ordered to change his behaviour.

The source continued: “The BBC took immediate action and Gregg was called in to have a meeting with them. He made it clear that he didn’t mean anything by what he said but he was read the riot act and told to change his behaviour.”

However, last year he stepped down from BBC show Inside The Factory following allegations he had been “rude towards staff and continued to talk in a derogatory manner, especially to women”.

The incident, reported in The Times, was said to have happened during an episode filmed at the Nestle factory in York.

A complaint about Wallace’s language was made to production company Voltage TV.

The presenter was spoken to and told to “moderate” it. Wallace was said to be “appalled” he had “caused such offence”.

The non-sexual allegation is said to have played a part in his decision to quit the role after seven series. He later hit back and confirmed that, while there was an “argument” at the factory, it was “not offensive”.

Wallace said: “There was an argument inside the factory, the reporting isn’t accurate. There was an issue and I thought this is the perfect time to come out.”

He went on: “I don’t want to discuss the issue but it wasn’t what the papers said it was.

“There was nothing offensive to anybody, that’s just people guessing. It was a decent time to come out.”

Despite these incidents, Wallace continued to host MasterChef with John Torode.

The latest allegations emerged after the BBC workplace review was announced last Friday.

It follows a series of scandals which have plagued the organisation in recent months.

They include the child sex photos disgrace of former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards and the Strictly Come Dancing bullying probe.

In a statement, the BBC said it was aiming to crack down on “abuse of power”.

BBC Chair Samir Shah said: “I cannot emphasise enough that I am fully committed to tackling inappropriate or abusive behaviour.

“For most of us it is a joy to work for the BBC and that should be the case for everyone.

“Nobody working in the BBC should ever feel fear or worry while working here.

“What is clear to me is that we must ensure the BBC is a safe, secure and welcoming workplace for everyone.”

The BBC’s probe aims to “ensure the consequences of inappropriate behaviour and abuse of power are understood by everyone”.

A spokesman said it intends to publish a report next spring.

Wallace started off as a market trader before moving into broadcasting. He has three kids, including one with fourth wife Anna, who he met on Twitter in 2013.

On the latest allegations, a spokesman for the BBC said: “Whilst we do not comment on individuals, if issues are raised they are dealt with swiftly and appropriately at the time.

“We do not tolerate any form of inappropriate behaviour and have robust processes in place.”

The latest episode saw Bobby, 38, depart after a doctor recommended his exit following a wrestling match.

He took on towering basketball player Ovie Soko, who won the bout and ripped Bobby’s shirt.

The tough challenge recruits were tasked with wrestling an opponent and getting them outside a makeshift ring filled with mud.

Afterwards, Bobby requested a medic and was sent to a doctor who said he needed to medically withdraw him from the show.

The medical professional said Bobby had “a lot of spasm” going down his neck which was “likely to increase”.

He added: “Your mobility is going to get more restricted, and you’re going to be at risk of doing yourself more damage.”

Former professional boxer Anthony Ogogo was the last competitor standing after all six recruits faced off in the ring.

Meanwhile, the Channel 4 show’s latest episode also saw Love Island star Ovie and presenter Cherry Healey exit.

Cherry, 43 was the first to bow out during Sunday night’s instalment.

She told instructor Jason Fox: “It’s been life-changing, but I know when the line is and that’s fine. I thought about this long and hard.”

As for Ovie, he left while “on the run” in a challenge that split the recruits into two teams.

The groups’ aim was to find their way to safety in the middle of the night.

In the meantime, they were being pursued by a hunter force made up of ex-military members.

Speaking to reality star Georgia Harrison, Ovie said: “I’m done… I’m going to hand my armband in.”

Sunday night’s episode also saw the recruits given a chance to speak to their loved ones.

I was locked in cage and drenched in ice for SAS interrogation - it was degrading, says Georgia Harrison ahead of final

THEY weren’t the most obvious candidates to make it to the last round of Celebrity Who Dares Wins — but that’s exactly what Georgia Harrison and Bianca Gascoigne have done.

In tonight’s final, the reality stars are pitted against each other in a tense interrogation showdown that pushes them to the limits.

The task requires the celebs to memorise a cover story and hide a fictional mission from a specialist interrogations team, while enduring questioning and punishment.

Each year, the round is slightly redesigned to ensure that the final four don’t know what to expect for this ultimate test.

It will see Georgia locked in a dog cage, while Bianca is forced to throw ice-cold water over her, holding stress positions, suffering in isolation and being aggressively probed by staff.

And, according to Georgia and Bianca, it’s much harder in real life than it ever sounds on paper.

Georgia said: “I really did think that the interrogation was going to be easy, because I would watch it on TV and think, ‘If that was me, I wouldn’t be shaking on the floor’, but I really underestimated it.

“I was thinking that I could meditate through it, but it’s just so, so tough.

“You get disorientated so much that you don’t know how long it’s been, who you’re with or if it’s even real any more.

“You lose all understanding of your surroundings.

“I was definitely hallucinating.

“It’s awful, excruciatingly hard, degrading, demoralising and one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life.”

The women are joined the final by boxers Lani Daniels and Anthony Ogogo.

Paul Gascoigne’s daughter Bianca added: “I was convulsing on the floor because it was so cold, it was madness.

“It was so mentally disturbing – most of the time you are in stress positions, it was about 13 hours I did it for and you totally believe then that you are in it.

‘Felt battered’

“It doesn’t feel like a TV show at that point. It’s proper psychological warfare.”

It wasn’t all bad for the model, though — who admitted that she is now in the best shape of her life after the show ordeal.

She joked: “I was covered in bruises and felt battered after, but I lost loads of weight and I did have a little baby weight to shift, so that was a good thing.”

Silver linings, eh.

Ali said: “I heard you thought that we thought there was a vibe up here.”

Khaled responded: “It just seemed, like no one wanted to say hi, some people seemed emotional [trails off]…”

Ali went on: “You know what it is Khaled… I think you’re a nice boy.

“But I find, sometimes the interactions I find false and I find that very, very difficult because then I don’t wanna engage with it because I don’t wanna play into, like I don’t wanna be fake with you. A

“nd I don’t wanna be shaking your hand and hugging you when inside I’m thinking I just don’t buy it.”

Ali continued by noting that Khaled seemed to lack empathy during the eviction by yawning and acting bored during a stressful situation.

Khaled responded: “I wasn’t the only one, but yes.”

Referring to an earlier conversation, Ali said, “There’s no need for these long speeches about how you want check in on us and make sure we’re okay. It’s not authentic…”

Many fans were shocked by Ali’s cruel putdown.

One wrote: “I hope Khalid can instantly evict Ali.. let’s get the bullies out early this year.”

A second posted: “Ali is trying to use her degree to belittle and indirectly bully Khaled … cute.”

A third said: “Ali is so fake, can tell she was the high school bully.”

“REVOKE ALIS THERAPIST LICENSE, she’s literally being a bully right now,” a fourth said.

Another added: “Ali is gaslighting Khaled is INSANE, she’s lying to his face. SHE IS BEING FAKE ITS A GAMESHOW AND PEOPLE ARE ACTING LIKE PLAYING IT IS WRONG. ALI IS A BULLY IM NOT HAVING THIS AND IZAZ IS A FAKE FRIEND.”

It comes after Ali admitted she thought Khaled was “fake”.

Khaled was rewarded with immunity and became head of the house following the challenge tonight.

Ali told some of the group: “Can I just say, keep your inside thoughts inside Ali. Keep them inside.”

Lily piped up and said: “I’ll say it. I think Khaled is fake.”

Ali agreed and echoed: “I think Khaled is fake as well.”

Lily went on: “I think everyone in here doesn’t see it except for me.”

Forensic psychologist Ali explained: “So, he’s worried about being perceived in a certain way.

“He doesn’t feel terrible. He wants to look like he feels terrible.”

“He doesn’t want to look like he’s revelling in a party because that will make him not look like a nice guy.”

Her comments stunned Rosie aka ‘Baked Potato’ and Izaaz .

It also surprised fans who have leaped to Khaled’s defence and are convinced Ali is trying to form an alliance and alienate him.

One wrote: “Is Ali trying to get everyone to dislike each other or…”

A second said: “Sorry, but I like Khaled…I really don’t know why they’re saying he’s fake..He’s not done anything wrong tbh.”

This person simply commented: “Khaled is the realest.”

Yet in the final moments of the show on Sunday night, it was revealed that he would be granted the power to influence nominations, which has never been done before on the show.

Viewers watched as Big Brother told Khaled: “There you will choose your special power, the power that will change the fate of your fellow housemates.

“This is top secret, you cannot mention this to anyone. The power is in your hands.”

At the end of the show, narrator Marcus Bentley revealed: “Tomorrow night, the head of house gains new powers as Big Brother reveals a game-changing secret.”

After the cliffhanger ending, viewers took to social media share their excitement and try to guess what will be included in the top secret challenge.

One person wrote: “Can’t wait to see what this big secret is!!”

Another shared: “This will be good.”

One viewer joked with their own theory for the huge twist as they posted: “I think I know what the “secret” is in Big Brother.

“What if…. Big Brother opens a secret door and suddenly Khaled is competing in LOVE ISLAND! He gets to pick one more person to go along with him and it’s MARCELLO!”

Yet some pointed out that Khaled seemed baffled by what Big Brother was revealing, and not too sure on what was happening.

One eagle eyed viewer wrote: “Safe to say Khaled hasn’t a clue what Big Brother just told him.”

The official Big Brother Twitter account hinted at the drama to come as it wrote: “Big Brother has revealed that as Head of House, Khaled has the power to influence Nominations. Tune in tomorrow at 9pm so see it all unfold in Big Brother’s Secret Basement…”

The replied flooded in from viewers who have already slammed the twist as ‘meddling’.

One person wrote: “Yeah you should have brought this show back under the USA‘s format from the get-go. We dont need silly basement gimmicks and bullshit montages either. You’re on the right track but stick to it.”

Another added: “So, we had one series of back-to-basics. Now it’s back to the Channel 5 meddling.”

During the follow up show, Big Brother: Late and Live, presenter Will Best was allowed to reveal what the upcoming twist would be.

Towards the end of the show he said: “This is important, I can exclusively reveal that as Head of House Khaled will face a decision, a big decision in tomorrow night’s show.

“He’s going to have the power to save and replace one of the housemates facing eviction or keep all the housemates facing eviction and just add another one with a killer nomination of his own. It’s big stuff.”

Nick Knowles breaks silence on Strictly exit as he give update on injuries – admitting they left him ‘yelping in pain’

Nick Knowles has broken his silence after his Strictly Come Dancing journey came to an end tonight.

The DIY SOS star, 62, returned to the BBC dance competition on Saturday after a touch and go week.

Nick and pro dancer Luba Mushtuk found themselves in the dance off against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu – with Nick being unanimously voted off by the judges.

Following his exit, the TV presenter took to Instagram with a smiling snap with his fiance Katie Dadzie at the studios.

He admitted being voted off will give him the chance to properly recover and deal with his injuries.

Nick wrote: “Thank you for all your messages, it’s been so much fun!

“Now I can sort out the injuries and spend time with my family and my lovely fiance Katie, who has been supporting me through the Strictly adventure.

“Mostly holding my hand while I’m yelping in physio and doctors appointments,” followed with a laughing face emoji and a love heart icon.

Shayne scored a total of 30 points and was seventh in the leaderboard, while Nick only received 21 points from the judges and was second from the bottom on Saturday.

Both couples performed their routines again tonight; Shayne and Nancy danced their Cha Cha to Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use) by Sub Sub feat. Melanie Williams.

Nick and Luba then took to the dancefloor with their Charleston to Rain on the Roof from the film Paddington 2.

After both couples had danced for a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts.

With three votes in favour of Shayne and Nancy, they had won the majority vote – meaning Nick and Luba had been eliminated.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas also agreed and said she would have saved Shayne and Nancy.

When asked by co-host Tess Daly about his time on the show, Nick said: “I’ve really, really been surprised by how much I’ve loved doing it and by two things that happen.

“One is how much you care each week, and the other is how much you don’t want to let down your partner.

“The only reason I could do this is simply because of Luba’s changes, she’s been amazing.”

A tearful Luba said: “I’ve never met someone as determined as you, and I remember you saying that if you do your best, you’ll be very happy.

“I think you did more than your best. Thank you.”

When asked by Tess about his partner Luba, Nick said: “Luba’s been amazing and just been so fabulous every day.

“And I should say thank you also to all the background staff, the physios, all the people that have actually got me through this week, and to all of my fellow competitors who have been absolutely astounding, beautiful people.

“There are some amazing dancers up there, and I will love watching the rest of the series.”

Nick’s future on the show had been hanging in the balance after he suffered two nasty injuries.

His most recent left him on crutches and forced the pair to miss Movie Week last weekend.

Prior to dancing, Nick revealed he had been looking forward to doing the routine for his 10-year-old son Eddie, whom he said was a huge fan of the Paddington movie.

Motsi said she was “100% sure” Knowles’s son was proud of him following the dance.

Nick was forced to pull out of last week’s live show after an accident during the dress rehearsal left him on crutches.

The star fell out of a jump and sustained an injury to his knee.

Prior to this, Nick had also hurt his shoulder while changing a car tyre away from show rehearsals.

Although he was able to struggle through that week’s dance, he did take part in several training sessions while wearing a sling.

Strictly 2024 leaderboard: The scores from week three of the BBC dance competition

The 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing has eliminated its third celebrity contestant.

BBC One’s popular reality competition, which has this year been at the centre of a PR storm over alleged mistreatment of contestants, continued on Saturday (12 October), with the elimination being announced the following night.

Week Four saw Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri top the leaderboard with pro partner Aljaž Škorjanec, dancing the Charleston in a performance that earned 39 points from the judges. EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and opera singer Wynne Evans also scored well, amassing a total of 34 points each.

Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell also floored both judges and viewers with an intricate salsa, which scored 30 points.

It was TV presenter Nick Knowles, along with his partner Luba Mushtuk, who was placed in Sunday’s dance off opposite singer Shayne Ward and his partner Nancy Xu.

Ward and Xu performed a Cha Cha to “Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use)” by Sub Sub feat Melanie Williams, while Knowles and Mushtuk danced a Charleston to “Rain on the Roof” from the film Paddington 2

Knowles, who had missed the previous week after sustaining a shoulder injury, was ultimately eliminated from the series by a unanimous vote.

Knowles follows contestants Tom Dean and Toyah Willcox in being eliminated from this year’s competition.

Mushtuk said: “I’ve never met someone as determined as you, and I remember you saying that if you do your best, you’ll be very happy. I think you did more than your best. Thank you.”
