Strictly Come Dancing: Sarah Hadland breaks down in tears as she dedicates Foxtrot to daughter

Sarah Hadland became emotional when she revealed the song she would be dancing to on week four of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Miranda star, 53, who wowed audiences with her Viennese Waltz tribute to Maggie Smith last week, performed a Foxtrot to Billie Eilish’s hit track “Birds of a Feather” on Saturday (12 October).

Hadland teared up in rehearsals as she explained the personal inspiration behind the song choice to her professional dance partner Vito Coppola.

Sat in the dance studio, Hadland showed Coppola a painting of two birds she and her daughter had made together.

“[This dance] it’s about my family and me and my little one ,” she said.

“This song is special to us because we sing it together,” Hadland added of her and her daughter’s love of the Eilish anthem.

“It would be really lovely to show how I feel in the dance.”

For her Foxtrot, Hadland was awarded six points by Revel Horwood and seven points each by Mabuse, Balla and Du Beke.

Hadland was criticised for “trotting” rather than “gliding” during her performance by the Strictly Come Dancing judges in week four.

However, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke admitted they were being harsh on the actor because they knew she could do better.

Her score of 27 was five marks lower than what she achieved in Movie Week and viewers were concerned the star had been given the Strictly “death slot” by being scheduled to perform second on the show.

One fan wrote on X/Twitter: “What a beautiful Foxtrot from Sarah. You can tell this song really meant a lot to her and it showed in her performance. Beautiful footwork, very elegant and lyrical. She is really good at engaging the audience.”

Meanwhile, another viewer added: “Amazing dance from Sarah, gorgeous I’d give an eight!”

Elsewhere on the programme, week four of the BBC dancing competition saw the long-anticipated return of DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles after he was forced to pull out of Movie Week due to a leg injury.

“This time last week I thought I was out so I’m over the moon,” the broadcaster told host Claudia Winkleman of his return.

“I can’t even imagine how you managed to do that so flawlessly when you can’t see,” head judge Shirley Ballas praised. “On top of that, you kept to your music, you didn’t miss a beat. I’m telling you from my heart, that is absolutely impressive.”

At the other end of the scale is TV doctor Punam Krishnan, with 20 out of 40, and DIY SOS star Nick Knowles who received just 21 points for his Charleston after returning to the competition following a serious leg injury.

“This time last week I thought I was out,” Knowles revealed after performing, while his partner Luba Mushtuk tearfully added: “Nick was determiend to dance and the fact he fell in love with dancing is one of the most beautiful things.”

‘They were criminally overmarked,’ fume Strictly fans as they accuse judges of ‘favouritism’ over ‘inconsistent’ scores

STRICTLY fans have slammed the judges scoring as “inconsistent” after Wynee Evans was scored nines on tonight’s show.

The Welsh opera singer, 52, danced the Tango to Abba’s hit track Money, Money, Money with pro Katya Jones.

The GoCompare star took to the dancefloor on Saturday night with a dramatic performance.

The judges praised him for his high energy routine, with Anton Du Beck saying it was “tremendous”.

He said: “All in all, that was one of your best performance.”

Craig Revel Horwood said: “You bum was sticking up – but I loved, loved, loved it. Winner, winner, win.”

Motsi Mabuse agreed and said: “This was your best dance yet, I’ve been waiting for this dance, I knew it was coming.

“What I love is that you guys give us a story…beautifully timed.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas was also full of praise and said: “I got goosebumps, it was passionate and told a tale.

“You got out there and I could see you’re in it to win it.”

Craig and Anton scored Wynne an 8, while Shirley and Motsi gave him a nine, making it his highest score so far.

But some fans have hit out at the judges yet again for “overmarking” another celebrity – with some claiming they have their “favourites”.

Strictly’s Tasha adds fuel to ‘fix’ claims as she breaks show record with ‘professional’ performance

One wrote: “So they’re giving 8s and 9s for Wynne, yet Sarah (imo) did WAY better and got criminally undermarked!! this show is so inconsistent.”

A second fumed: “Overmarked again. Four weeks in a row this show has overmarked him.” Ridiculous over praise of the BBC employee…”

A third baffled fans commented: “9 ?..my arse…ffs

“I’m so sorry but i would’ve given Wynne a 6? so overmarked in my opinion, I love the characterisation i just felt needed more sharpness to it,” this annoyed viewer posted.

This person shared: “I can’t take some of the scoring seriously this evening.”

Someone else echoed: “Crazily over marked!! What is going on this week?”

While this viewer asked: “Why are the judges throwing out 9’s like they’re confetti?”

Another added: “9s for Wynne?,” with a confused face emoji.

This is not the first time that fans have hit out at the judges overscoring.

Last week, fans thought Wynne was overmarked during Movie Week.

Toyah Wilcox was eventually sent home after failing to impress as Ursula from the Little Mermaid and falling to the bottom of the leaderboard.

However, as some noted improvements and others began to slip – in Pete Wicks’ case, quite literally on the dancefloor – fans of the show have criticised the judges for favouritism of Wynne Evans.

The GoCompare opera singer put his best foot forward with a cha cha, giving his take on Mrs Doubtfire alongside pro dancer Katya Jones.

They earned a 30 out of a total 40 points available, putting them high on the leaderboard.

However, fans believed the star was given too high a score, especially when Craig criticised his “wooden and stiff” hip action.

Katya and Wynne also played up an error they made, claiming it was “choreographed” before joking to Claudia Winkleman part of the fun of the character was “blaming any mistakes” on them.

Taking out their frustrations on X, one viewer wrote: “Wynne is too cocky and thinks he’s better than he is….way overmarked as usual.”

“Massive overmarking of Wynne’s cha cha? Constantly overmarked. #Strictly,” said a second.

Unhappy viewers said the judges scores have been 'inconsistent' again

Towie’s Junaid gives relationship update with Joe as they jet off on HOLIDAY - and reveals if he’s spoken to Harry

TOWIE star Junaid Ahmed has admitted he is “really loved up” with Joe Blackman as the pair yet off holiday.

Fans of the show were left gobsmacked when they started dating – just days after Joe’s split from Harry Derbidge.

But despite speculation they wouldn’t last, the pair seem happier than ever.

Speaking to The Sun last week, Junaid said: “We’re really good. Really really happy.  Really loved up.”

He added: We’re in a really good space. Happy. We’ll see how things go. Let’s see what happens.”

But he admitted he is yet to speak to Harry, his former best friend, about the betrayal.

“No I havent spoken to him and I genuinely wish him the best,” he told us.

“I think that friendship is done. I wish him the best and I hope that he is ok. I send him my love and I hope that he is ok. “

Harry was left completely heartbroken and blindsided by their budding romance, which has played out on screen.

This weekend Joe and Junaid have jetted off on their first proper holiday together – to Ibiza.

The pair have shared numerous snaps as they headed to the party isle, in a move that is likely to upset Harry even further.

During last week’s Towie Harry’s furious cousin Amy Childs was seen confronting Junaid and Joe.

She told Junaid: “I really hope you two get married, but I know for a fact in two weeks time you’ll ring me and say ‘Amy look what he’s done to Harry and now look what he’s done to you,’ so good luck to you.”

Amy was joined by her fiancé Billy Delbosq, who also backed Harry, as he called Junaid and Joe’s romance “fake.”

He said: “Personally I think he’s going to drop you out, and whatever this is that’s going on it’s as fake as a handbag down Dagenham market.”

As they turned to leave, Amy turned back and said: “Yeah you’re snakes, hun.”

Anton Du Beke reveals why he never got angry with ‘awful’ Strictly partners

Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has said he never got angry with his celebrity dance partners while he was a professional on the show.

Throughout his time as a professional, Du Beke often found himself paired with celebrities who either failed to make it far in the competition including, Anne Widdecombe, Gillian Taylforth, Lesley Joseph and Susannah Constantine.

“I say this in the nicest way but none of them are 25. They are wonderful, interesting, fabulous, brilliant, funny, intelligent women who I enjoyed every second with, but it is what it is,” he said.

Du Beke said the most he could ask of his partner was that they “try their best”, adding: “That is as much as you can do.”Read more below:

Chris McCausland responds to Toyah Willcox’s It Takes Two blunder

While it’s clear that Willcox was aiming to complement McCausland for his dancing skills and popularity among Strictly fans, the comments backfired among viewers who said the remark was “uncalled for” and “mean”. However, McCausland has since defended Willcox online, saying that the singer has been “nothing but beautiful and supportive” during their few weeks together on the dancing competition.

“What she said on It Takes Two was funny and an incredible bloody compliment,” he said.
