Ways to Style a Silk Skirt

Quince Silk Maxi Skirt

First, let’s highlight the star of the show….the perfect silk maxi skirt. Erin has tried SO many silk midi and maxi skirts over the years. Only to be disappointed. She started to think finding one that was high quality AND fit well might just not be in the cards. But then…she found it! She first tried the midi version of this 100% washable silk skirt by Quince and absolutely loved it. So, for the holidays she ordered the maxi version and was equally impressed. It fits true to size and has a comfortable waistband. It’s also washable which is pretty much unheard of for high-quality silk. It comes in 10 beautiful colors and, wait for it, it’s under $80. What? Yes! Erin is wearing the color Champagne. Now for the fun part….styling it!

Silk Maxi & Sequin Tank

In this first look, Erin’s wearing the silk maxi skirt with a gorgeous sequin tank by Staud. The top is body-skimming for more of a tailored fit. It’s also lined so you don’t have to worry about it being itchy. This is the dressiest of the 3 looks we’re sharing today. You could easily wear this outfit to a semi-formal gathering, work party, or a fancy dinner out. Sequins are inherently glamorous and the monochromatic pieces together are elongating, slimming, and super sophisticated.

Accessories

Before we dive into the next two outfits, we wanted to share the accessories Erin is wearing with each of the 3 looks. To show you the versatility of this fabulous silk skirt, Erin kept the shoes and jewelry the same and just swapped out the top to change the overall vibe and dressiness of the outfit.

Under the skirt, Erin is wearing a nude shapewear slip to minimize any panty lines, lumps, and bumps and to keep the tummy area smooth. This is something to consider especially for a lighter colored silk skirt like this one. To elevate the look even further, Erin added some white stiletto Schutz booties, oversized pearl hoops, and two Julie Vos statement cuffs. See how the tonal accessories add to the sophistication of this monochromatic look?

Silk Maxi Skirt & Sequin Top

In this next look, Erin swapped out the fitted sequin tank for a top with a looser fit. This super affordable sequin top by Endless Rose has exaggerated shoulder pads that add some width across the shoulders which conversely gives the illusion of a slimmer waist. Such a great style hack! The relaxed fit of this top will also provide a bit more forgiveness in the tummy area. Erin is wearing the color Ivory which is limited in sizing, but the silver color is also really pretty. You could also pair the same top in black with the black silk Quince maxi skirt for another chic take on this modern, monochromatic look!

Silk Maxi Skirt & Cable Knit Sweater

Finally, we wanted to show you the most casual way to style the silk maxi. This time, with a cropped cable knit sweater. Does this Free People sweater look familiar? Erin picked it up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale months ago and has been wearing it on repeat.

We love how the mixed textures of the chunky cable knit and sleek silk skirt are unexpected and a bit edgy. Tucking a thicker fabric into your silk skirt will create bulk around the tummy, so the cropped fit of this sweater works perfectly with the high-waisted skirt. The monochromatic colors keep the line long and lean. Unfortunately, the sweater is only available in limited sizing, but we’ll link a few similar options below to help you achieve the same look. For an even more casual holiday look, you can swap out the booties for a pair of light-colored sneakers. We’ll link Erin’s go-to pair below.
