Christmas at the Palace of Holyroodhouse
Step into Christmas and 900 years of royal history at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
This festive period, the Palace will be transformed with magnificent Christmas decorations, including two 12-foot-high Christmas trees and a mantle garland in the wood-panelled Throne Room.
Visitors will be greeted by festive garlands, vibrant berries and seasonal foliage as they ascend the Great Stair leading to the historic State Apartments.
In the Royal Dining Room, the grand table is laid with a silver service and with sugared fruit and foliage.

Christmas Exclusive Guided Tours
This winter, don’t miss a special Christmas tour of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. In the company of an expert guide, you will enjoy a private tour of the State Apartments when the Palace is closed to other visitors, with a chance to see the rooms beautiful decorated for the festive season.

Festive Wreath Making
1 December 2025
Join florist and Royal Warrant-holder Lottie Longman for a hands-on workshop to create your own festive wreath to take home. First you’ll gather inspiration from the beautiful decorations of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, before learning how to fashion foliage into your own unique design.
Concert
Carols at the Palace
9 and 10 December 2025
Enjoy seeing the beautifully decorated State Apartments of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, as you make your way to the Great Gallery to hear a wonderful concert of Christmas music. Members of the Choir of St Mary’s Cathedral will perform a special programme of festive music, and the evening will conclude with a glass of wine and mince pies.
