I tend to avoid avant-garde fashion shows that showcase fantastical clothing. Saint Lauren, Ralph Lauren, V Beckham, Max Mara, and similar designers present clothing that can be adapted to the ready-wear market. The fringe straps made me laugh because the first thing I thought about was trying to get in and out of my car with a skirt like that. And the only bubbles I need are found in champagne or a bubble bath.

I like animal prints in natural colors and scales, but I already have enough of it in my wardrobe (one silk skirt and two silk shirts, plus a few accessories). I think these prints have become classics now and I never got rid of what I bought last time they were “trending”. I wouldn’t wear more than one item of animal print at a time, that’s plenty. A few accessories in these prints can be useful, one can add one to plain, solid-colored outfits, especially brown or black dresses or outfits. One of my leopard-print shirts has a black in the print, the other brown, to wear with bottoms in those colors. I would consider a leopard print jacket, but I’ve only seen polyester ones at my budget level, which I can’t wear. H&M currently has a cute, collared short jacket in leopard (poly lined with poly). Theory has a beautiful leopard-print wool blazer, but I don’t think I would wear it enough to justify the price.

The only time in my fifty years of styling that I ever felt like I lost my style was when I adopted the local Boho trend for a few years, when “Coachella style” was really big here in California. After wasting too much money on it, I ended up soon going back to my life-long classic style. I finally felt like myself again and don’t even like Boho style now at all. There will always be a Boho subculture and style here, but it’s only a tiny minority nowadays. It’s definitely of the “more is more” type of style, which is not for me.

As a safety professional I have to warn women about wearing long fringe in any garment or accessory. It is not only a nuisance, but it can be very dangerous. Women have been dragged to their deaths when it got caught in vehicles, trains, machines, etc. It’s a horrific way to be seriously injured or even die. If you must wear it, be extremely careful! I’m not a fan of the aesthetics of this trend, either, fringe as skirts, or transparent skirts over panties – these are such tired old looks that desperate designers keep trying to revive because they can’t think of anything new. Some of these are just micro skirts or a panty with some ribbons sewn on, I’ve seen middle-school aspiring designers do a lot better ! Then, there’s the no-pants look, who on earth is going to go out in just a panty? Come on designers, give us beautiful clothes that we actually want to wear for a change!

The only point I disagree with you: animal print. Leo pattern only looks good on leopards (which is also true for zebras, cows, snakes etc) On human beings it's tacky and wannabe sexy like house-cat going wild. Sorry – no offense – but you won't find elegant women wrapped up in animal skin – real or print – not even in small doses. It's always trashy and for sure not neutral.

Ideally really hate the ruffle trend…it’s never been my vibe which leans classic with a modern twist…..I feel like an extra on the set of Little House on the Prairie! It’s been hanging around for quite a few seasons….i can’t wait for it to leave…😊

😢 Oh dear, tell me it's not true. I love my leopard print bubble skirt paired with my ruffled blouse and double bag. But so glad I can toss my sand undies! They are not all they're cracked up to be!

Thanks for loads of good advice to pass up trends that are silly, tacky and/or simply inappropriate. Personally, I like to buy trendy pieces that I can Tuckaway. In my closet and pull out on occasion. There’s no reason to buy some thing that you can’t use overtime.

I like to use it as a focal and accent piece…I also think there’s a certain attitude that goes with wearing animal print and if you don’t embrace it you look like the piece is wearing you.
