The 2025 Academy Award nominations have placed Black talent at the forefront, with Colman Domingo earning a Best Actor nod for “Sing Sing,” marking a milestone in his career and for representation in Hollywood. His compelling portrayal of a man seeking redemption within the prison system has been widely praised, highlighting the growing presence of Black narratives in mainstream cinema. Colman Domingo’s Academy Award recognition underscores the need for more stories that reflect the complexity of Black experiences and talents.
Additionally, Cynthia Erivo’s nomination for Best Actress for her role as Elphaba in “Wicked” is another historic moment, showcasing her unmatched vocal and emotional range. Abraham Alexander’s nomination for Best Original Song with “Like a Bird” from “Sing Sing” further highlights Black artists’ contributions to film. AC Milan have agreed to sign Manchester City captain Kyle Walker on loan for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer. The 34-year-old full-back, who has been key to City’s six Premier League title wins under Pep Guardiola, is set to travel to Italy for a medical to finalize the move. Walker, who joined City from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 for £50 million, expressed his desire to explore opportunities abroad after his last appearance against West Ham on January 4. While initially linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, the England international prefers a switch to Serie A.
Walker, a pivotal figure in City’s leadership structure, was named joint-captain in 2023 and has amassed 316 appearances for the club. His move to Milan ends a glittering chapter at the Etihad, during which he earned 93 caps and became a cornerstone of Guardiola’s dominance. AC Milan, who can only register one UK-based player this transfer window, prioritized Walker over rumored interest in Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. Meanwhile, City has been active in the January transfer market, securing three signings for a combined £123 million.
