This post will show you the 10 must-have items for fall fashion, all under $150.

Fall fashion just hits different — there’s something about this time of the year that makes me want to revamp my wardrobe and try out all of the latest trends.

With so many fashion trends coming and going, it can be hard to decipher which pieces are actually worth investing in, which is why I am breaking down the top 10 fall fashion must-haves for 2024 that are both trendy and practical.

These are items that you’re going to wear again and again, rather than being a fleeting fashion choice. Best of all, everything is under $150, so that you won’t have to break the bank to look stylish this season!

So, without further ado, read on for the top 10 fall (and winter) fashion-must haves under $150 to upgrade your seasonal style.

1. A Cardigan Sweater

Nothing says “fall” like a chunky cardigan sweater, so of course, you’ll need to add one (or a few) to your wardrobe this autumn.

And while pretty much all knitwear is a go, cardigans are really the star of the show this season — it’s amazing how something so classic can feel so fresh all of a sudden!

Whether you opt for bright hues or earth tones, you really can’t go wrong either way.

Black Cardigan Sweater

A simple black cardigan sweater is a wardrobe staple — these are as versatile as it gets. So before you go adding cardigans with crazy colors to your shopping cart, consider starting with the basics first.

This black cardigan sweater is a timeless piece that won’t go out of style and will complement so many of your fall and winter looks. Also available in cream, it has a classic silhouette that is ideal for layering over t-shirts, tops, and dresses.

Red Cardigan Sweater

Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s amp things up with a pop of color. A red cardigan sweater is the perfect way to brighten up your fall outfits and make a style statement.

Available in eight different colors (including neutral hues), this slim-fitting cardi is at an affordable price point and delivers both trend appeal and wearability.

Cardigan with Gold Buttons

If you’re into the Old Money/Quiet Luxury aesthetic, you need a cardigan with fancy buttons.

This season, classic cardigans have gotten an upgrade with luxe-looking buttons for an elevated feel.

This cardigan, for example, has gold ribbed knotted buttons that are so chic they could be earrings! Because the earrings are so luxe, they make this simple cardigan stand out; just add in some gold jewelry, and you’ll be good to go.

2. An Oversized Pullover Sweater

It should come as no surprise that pullover sweaters are a seasonal must-have. This fall, be sure to opt for sweaters with an oversized fit for an on-trend look that is as cozy as it is stylish (and warm).

IMO, you’ll need a few of these within your wardrobe since they’re a daily staple item; I wear a sweater almost daily starting in the fall and throughout the wintertime.

Fuzzy Knit Oversized Crew Neck Sweater

Just looking at this sweater makes me want to cozy up in it!

With an oversized fit, drop shoulder sleeves, and a fuzzy knit material, it’s extra cozy. Plus, its plum color is so unique — it’s just bright enough to add interest to your outfits while still feeling seasonal.

Ribbed Crew Neck Sweater

This ribbed crew neck sweater is so soft that it feels like cashmere (but for way less). It has a slouchy fit and comes in 14 different colors and prints, including brights, neutrals, stripes, and Fair Isle print, which is especially cute for the holidays.

Burgundy Oversized Sweater

ICYMI, burgundy is *the* color of the season, so a burgundy sweater is a total must!

It is the perfect way to add a trendy touch to your look while still keeping warm, cozy, and comfy. The sweater’s rich hue, oversized silhouette, and fuzzy knit material make it a top pick.

3. A Faux Leather Bomber Jacket

A faux leather jacket is your fastest ticket to looking cool this fall — especially one with a distressed look and an oversized fit.

Rather than go for a slim-fitting biker jacket, opt for vintage-inspired styles that are oversized and have a slouchy silhouette.

Brown Faux Leather Bomber Jacket

This brown faux leather bomber jacket has a distressed look that makes it look vintage, which is exactly the vibe we are going for this season. Plus, brown is having a major moment this fall, so this feels like a cool alternative to classic black.

Even when worn over a basic t-shirt and paired with jeans, it will make you look instantly cooler.

Brown Faux Leather Oversized Bomber Jacket

Here’s another amazing brown faux leather bomber jacket option, this time with a longer, more oversized fit and elastic hem.

Its glossy, dark brown hue is right on-trend for the fall, and its slouchy fit makes it comfortable to wear (because who likes a stiff, tight-fitting jacket?).

Black Faux Leather Oversized Bomber Jacket

Meet your new favorite going-out jacket.

Everyone needs a black faux leather jacket in their wardrobe, and this affordable bomber jacket is nice and oversized to give you that cool, slouchy look. Its longer length makes it great for pairing with mini skirts and dresses, as well as leggings and jeans.

4. Loose-Fitting Dark Wash Denim

It should come as no surprise that color palettes darken during the autumn and winter seasons, so some dark-wash denim is a must.

If you want to be especially on-trend, consider a pair of barrel jeans or balloon jeans, which have a unique silhouette that is wide in the middle but tapers in at the bottom.

High-Rise Curve Jeans

Dubbed the “Curve Jean,” these high-rise dark-wash jeans feature a barrel-like silhouette that curves throughout the leg and hits at the ankle.

The exaggerated silhouette makes these jeans ideal for those looking for a bit of legroom without going for a fully baggy style.

Mid-Rise Balloon Jeans

If balloon and barrel-shaped jeans seem a bit intimidating to you, these Zara mid-rise balloon jeans have a less exaggerated design, making them even more wearable.

They are the perfect dark wash and have pronounced seam details at the knees for a carpenter-inspired look (another big denim trend this season).

Low-Rise Baggy Jeans

Not into barrel-leg jeans? No problem. Go for some baggy, loose-fitting jeans instead.

This low-rise pair features a beautiful dark wash and a relaxed fit that can be dressed up or down; they are sure to become your go-to jeans this season.

5. A Cozy Set

What’s better than wearing a cozy lounge set?

Not only are these comfy, but they make getting dressed super easy and quick. Because sets match (obviously), they take all the guesswork out of getting ready so you don’t have to find separate pieces to put together.

Speaking of, sets make you look put-together with next to no effort, which is another reason why you should invest in them!

Knit Pants and Pullover Sweater

Knitwear is always a warm and cozy option, so why not wear it head-to-toe?! These gray knit pants and matching pullover sweater with a quarter zip neckline are the perfect way to keep comfy while still looking cute.

The ribbed knit fabric will help you stay warm, and the neutral gray color makes this matching set easy to coordinate with different coats, jackets, and shoes in your closet.

Personally, I would pair this set with some platform Ugg boots and a long, structured jacket for a stylish yet easygoing look.

Long Sleeve Top and Drawstring Pants Set

Get dressed in a flash with this easy-going loungewear set featuring a long-sleeved crop top and pants with a drawstring waistband for added comfort.

Available in ten different colors (brown, army green, and dark blue are my favorites), you will look put-together in this combo while still staying comfy. It’s great for lounging around, studying, hanging out with friends, or running errands.

Printed Knit Sweater and Pants

How cute is this printed knit sweater and matching pants set?! It is especially adorable for the holiday season — can’t you picture yourself lounging by the fire sipping hot cocoa while wearing these pieces?

Both the cream-colored sweater and pants feature a blue graphic print design and a thick, stretchy knit material that makes them extra comfortable.

6. A Lightweight Jacket

Before the cold really sets in and we break out the puffer coats, you’ll need a lightweight jacket for chilly fall weather.

Right now, barn and workwear jackets are a huge trend that makes for a surprisingly practical addition to your wardrobe. You can also consider shackets, trench coats, and fleece jackets for lightweight warmth and style.

Workwear Jacket

You’ll be reaching for this cotton workwear jacket all autumn long: it’s the perfect outerwear piece to wear that is effortlessly casual but will show that you’re into fashion and stay current with the latest trends (IYKYK).

Its contrasting corduroy collar and zipper front add to its workwear-inspired design, and its chestnut color is ideal for the fall season.

Waxed Barn Jacket

A waxed canvas exterior gives this barn jacket an outdoorsy, rugged look, along with its plaid flannel interior and corduroy collar.

Go for a classic, preppy look fit for the English countryside by wearing this jacket with some knee-high riding boots and a cable-knit sweater, or switch it up with a street-style vibe by wearing it with baggy jeans and sneakers.

Cropped Trench Jacket

Trench coats are timeless and never go out of style, and while I adore them, sometimes it can be a bit of a hassle to wear a long coat.

That’s why I love this new take on trenches: the cropped trench jacket.

With the classic trench coat design minus the long length, these modern jackets wear more easily while still looking as chic as ever.

7. A Sherpa or Shearling Jacket

Bring on the cozy vibes! Sherpa jackets are some of the coziest out there, and luckily, they are right on trend for fall and winter.

Whether you go for an all-shearling jacket or one with a sherpa interior lining, these jackets will keep you warm while looking stylish.

Oversized Faux Shearling Jacket

Edikted Sherpa Jacket

Cozy up in this cute, oversized faux shearling jacket with brown contrasting faux leather piping. It is the perfect length for wearing with jeans, and its oversized collar adds another fashion-forward touch to it.

You can wear this jacket casually with denim and Uggs, or you can wear it with dressier outfits, like with a mini skirt and knee-high boots.

Teddy Coat

It’s giving teddy bear — in the best way possible!

This adorable cream-colored faux shearling teddy coat has an elevated design with gold-tone clasp fastenings along the front, giving it a polished look. I love the way it looks when styled with a pleated mini-skirt, as shown above.

Double-Faced Fleece Aviator Jacket

For an edgier vibe, try an aviator jacket with faux shearling or fleece lining.

This double-faced jacket has an asymmetrical zipper closure, buckles, and contrast trim to give it some edge. Plus, it maintains a cozy and warm interior, thanks to its fleece.

8. Cool Low-Top Sneakers

Yes, eye-catching sneakers are still very much in this season, and it’s a good thing because I am all about comfortable footwear! Sneakers, especially ones featuring bright or unique color combinations, are a great way to add personality to your outfits.

Some of the top sneaker picks of the season include Adidas Gazelle, Handball, and Samba styles, New Balance 530 and RC42, and Puma’s Speedcat sneakers (which are currently sold out everywhere — sorry!).

Puma Palermo Vintage Sneakers

Puma’s Speedcat sneakers may be out of stock everywhere (they are considered to be a dupe of the viral Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL sneaker), but you can get a similar look with the brand’s Palermo Vintage sneakers in this “Caramel Latte + Creamy Vanilla” colorway.

They’re straight from the Puma archives, with a retro design and slim profile.

Adidas Originals Handball Spezial Sneakers

There’s no doubt you’ve seen Adidas sneakers all over your social feeds — the brand’s low-top lifestyle sneakers have undoubtedly become the “it” sneakers of 2024.

If you haven’t gotten in on the trend, it’s not too late: there are plenty of styles and colorways to choose from. I am a big fan of the Handball Spezial, an archival style that makes all of your outfits look instantly cooler.

This off-white pair with burgundy stripes and details couldn’t be a better option for the fall, since burgundy is the hottest color of the season!

New Balance RC42 Sneakers

You’re probably familiar with New Balance’s sportier sneaker styles, but this season, try the brand’s RC42 model. These sleek suede sneakers come in a range of different colors and have a low-profile design that is perfect for everyday wear.

I love the idea of “accessorizing” your sneakers with some fun laces or cute charms, as shown above.

9. A Denim Shirt

Denim shirts are the perfect fall-ready update to classic button-down shirts, which tend to be more lightweight (and, therefore, more suited for spring and summer).

These can be worn on their own or layered over other pieces like a t-shirt (as demonstrated above), and if you opt for one with an oversized fit or in a larger size, you can wear it like a jacket.

Dark Wash Denim Shirt

Abercrombie has hit the mark yet again with this oversized denim shirt that is the perfect color and fit for 2024.

With a dark wash, side slits, chest pockets, and tortoise buttons, this denim shirt is sure to become an instant classic within your wardrobe, and you’ll be able to style it a ton of different ways this season.

Oversized Denim Shirt

This blue denim shirt has a classic “borrowed from the boys” look thanks to its oversized fit, chest pocket, and metal buttons going down the front.

Denim-on-denim looks are huge this fall, so consider styling this top with jeans or a denim skirt for a fashion-forward ensemble.

10. Knee-High Boots

Knee-high boots are the ultimate going-out shoe in the fall and winter, so if you don’t have a pair, now is the time to get some!

These are sleek, sexy, and the perfect addition to your dresses and mini-skirt outfits. Plus, they help to keep your legs a bit warmer than ankle boots would, which is a win in my book.

Black Block Heel Knee-High Boots

Every woman needs some black knee-high boots in her shoe collection, and this season is no exception.

A pair with a block heel and a square toe will look modern while also helping you feel more comfortable on your feet when standing, walking, and dancing the night away.

Burgundy Faux Crocodile Knee-High Boots

I may have saved the best for last… how killer are these burgundy faux crocodile knee-high boots?!

Not only do they feature the color of the season, but their glossy faux croc design and stiletto heel make them look so *rich* — while being a steal at just $75. Adding to my cart as we speak!
