The evolution of women’s fashion through the 20th century (1900s - 2000s)

Hello everyone !!

I am very proud to finally present you this little project I had in mind for months.

Many ladies took part to this video and each embodies the different fashions that evolved during the 20th century.

I would like to thank them enormously because without them, this video would not have existed 🙏🏼

This needs so many more views, it's so well done! Congratulations on pretty much nailing all the fashion and compiling it in such a delightful way <3

It’s beyond me why women would want to wear anything other than long dresses and skirts. Dresses and skirts are so uniquely feminine and completely contrast any clothing geared towards men. It’s like they’re trying to become more like men as the years go on.

I liked how it was very accurate from the beginning but after the 60s one it started to look very costumey

I really like the 20 and 30 styles. I love all the hats both the men and women wore.

This is great. When calls the heart should have done more research in hair styles. Main character shouldn't have hair off to one side. Too modern.

1920s-50s – loving everything about women's looks for those 40 years, except for the short hair. I dunno why it took the degenerate hippies to bring back long hair on women.

    Anyways this video is dope

……i think 1960s make up was more about a natural lip and an exagerated eye…..red lipstick is more of a 1950s thing…….

Looks great! I however I feel like the 1910s hats were wider brimmed. But I get why they are smaller because your dressing more middle class than high class.

Thank you for sharing your video. You clearly put an enormous amount of work and joy into this and it deserves a huge applause. My absolute favorites were the 1910 button-up white shirt and black skirt and 1930s red and white stripe tee with button-up shirt with the light-khaki trousers and…the shoes were gorgeous. So much fun! ~Janis

1900s. Looks stiff and stuffy. Restricting.
1910s. The music used is great but the fashion looks vinegary and prudish.
1920s. Looks fun, flirty and ready for dancing.
1930s. Seems to hide the figure and goes with excessive makeup.
1940s. Looks like the woman is inside a box and just aching to break out.
1950s. Contrived but more relaxed than the prior decades. Mediocre altogether.
1960s. Lots of fun colors and cuts. Artistic and creative. Free wheeling.
1970s. Experimenting with different modes, very creative, earthy colors, though a lot of it is kitschy.
1980s. A lot of it is really ugly, puffy, unflattering, but the jeans are nice.
1990s. I don’t think it was well depicted here. Women’s fashion of this time was a very mixed bag.
2000s. Very sexy. I really like the bare shoulders and midriff and the tight jeans.

Aïe aïe aïe, comme les femmes étaient belles, distinguées et raffinées. Voilà ce qu'aiment les hommes chez les femmes.

Rappers who Broke Genders Norms with Women‘s Clothing #diddy #youngthug #jadensmith #kidcudi #shorts

In recent years, several male rappers have embraced fashion styles that challenge traditional gender norms, incorporating elements typically associated with women’s fashion. This style is often characterized by fluidity, androgyny, and a bold rejection of conventional masculine stereotypes. Here’s a closer look:

1. **Androgynous Fashion**: Artists like Young Thug have been pioneers in breaking down gender barriers in rap fashion. He has famously worn dresses, skirts, and sheer fabrics in both his music videos and public appearances. This androgynous style reflects a growing acceptance of fluidity in both gender and fashion, allowing rappers to express themselves more freely without conforming to rigid masculine standards.

2. **High-Fashion Influence**: Some rappers, such as Lil Uzi Vert and Jaden Smith, mix high-fashion with feminine elements. They wear items like blouses, tight-fitting clothing, handbags, and even skirts, often drawing from high-end designers like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Rick Owens. Their style often combines traditionally feminine silhouettes with more neutral or streetwear-inspired pieces, creating a hybrid, avant-garde look.

3. **Makeup and Accessories**: Beyond clothing, some male rappers have embraced traditionally feminine accessories and makeup. Jewelry like pearl necklaces, earrings, nail polish, and eyeliner have become part of their everyday looks, further blurring the lines between masculine and feminine aesthetics. A$AP Rocky, for example, is known for wearing pearl necklaces and experimenting with bold fashion choices that push gender norms.

This trend reflects a larger cultural shift toward inclusivity and self-expression, showing that in rap, fashion can be a powerful tool for challenging stereotypes and expressing individuality.
