Vogue Italia has been pretty hit and miss throughout 2024. After all, covers starring the likes of Taylor Russell, Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk, Karen Elson, and Monica Bellucci have flopped HARD. On the opposite end of the scale, the magazine’s Steven Meisel-shot 60th anniversary covers, Lana Del Rey, and Hunter Schafer offerings have impressed us to no end. To close out 2024, Francesca Ragazzi insisted the magazine’s December cover shoot be shot at the 60th anniversary party, held during Milan Fashion Week in September. Ragazzi called upon photographer Rafael Pavarotti and stylist Katie Grand for the occasion. As a result, models Anok Yai, Alex Consani, Paloma Elsesser, Amelia Gray, Alek Wek, Maty Fall, and DJ Carlita pose across a total of six black and white Vogue Italia cover offerings this month.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“Party photos? What is this,” shrieked newton91 the moment the covers dropped.
“Hmm, no. That cover line is stupid, and I don’t like the black and white. It lacks that pop of color,” pointed out Valentine27.
Forum member jejsx2 commented: “So… Vogue Italia threw a big party for their 60th anniversary and then used party photos as the cover? Honestly, this feels lazy and cheap for Vogue!”
“Maty Fall’s cover is TRAGIC. She looks gorgeous, but the context, the DJ, and the location is atrocious. It looks more like a rave in an occupied space than a Vogue party,” critiqued carla56.
“I’m happy for Alek Wek. In fact, she’s the only one who actually looks like she’s having fun. All the covers are pretentious and bad,” DK92 disapproved.
Also majorly underwhelmed was avonlea002, declaring: “I hate everything about this!”
Blueorchid simply used the word “grim” to describe the covers.
