God of War Ragnarok returns to No.1 as PS5 stock arrives | UK Boxed Charts

[ad_1]

Sony’s God of War Ragnarok has returned to the top of the UK boxed charts due to a 32% increase in sales week-on-week.

The action adventure game jumped two places to No.1 thanks to the arrival of more PS5 stock at UK retail. The game also features in a PS5 hardware bundle.

Last week’s chart topper, FIFA 23, drops to No.2 (sales down 18% week-on-week) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 slips a place to No.3 (down 14%).

Pokémon Violet rises a place to No.4, despite a 12% sales drop week-on-week. The game swaps places with Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which falls to No.5 with a 32% sales drop. Mario Kart featured prominently in Switch hardware bundles over Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

There was one new release in the charts. The boxed version of Cuphead from Iam8bit arrives at UK retail, and debuts at No.18.

Last week’s biggest new release, The Callisto Protocol, drops from No.6 to No.12 due to a 69% sales fall week-on-week. Need for Speed: Unbound, which disappointed in its first week, drops from No.17 to No.19. However, sales only declined 13%, which is good for a game’s second week on shelves.

A notable riser is Just Dance 2023, which is up three places to No.11. The Ubisoft game came out two weeks ago, and its latest rise up the charts is due to a 17% sales improvement week-on-week.

Another riser this week is Super Mario, with six Mario games increasing in sales week-on-week. These include Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle (No.15, sales up 6%), New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (No.16, up 49%), Mario Party Superstars (No.17, up 22%), Super Mario Odyssey (No.25, up 30%), Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury goes (No.32, up 17%), and Mario Strikers Charged (No.36, up 8%). Even Luigi had a good week, with Luigi’s Mansion 3 at No.30, with sales up 10% week-on-week.
