Passengers travelling through Italian airports face significant disruption on Friday as a 24-hour strike is planned to hit the country.
The industrial action will affect services at Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa and Venice Marco Polo airports on January 10.
The strike forms part of what Italian media are calling “venerdì nero” or “Black Friday” due to multiple walkouts across the country’s transport network.
Airport officials warn travellers to expect flight disruptions and delays to services throughout the day as baggage handling staff take industrial action.

A nationwide four-hour strike will also disrupt local public transport services across Italian cities on Friday.
The action, called by the Faisa-Confail trade union over a pay dispute, will affect bus, subway and tram services.
In Rome, the strike will impact public transport from 08.30 to 12.30 and commuters in Milan will face disruption to ATM transport services between 08.45 and 12.45.
The walkout adds to the transport chaos expected across Italy, with different cities operating varying strike timetables throughout the morning.
Railway maintenance workers will stage a 24-hour strike from 9pm on Thursday, January 9 until the same time on Friday.
The action is being led by unions Cub Trasporti and Cobas Lavoro Privato, representing workers from the Italian Railway Network.
The industrial action follows a record year of strikes in Italy, with 622 walkouts recorded during 2024, many taking place on Fridays.
Travel operators are urging visitors to stay informed about the situation and develop alternative plans.
