Relocating to another country is a major life choice that demands thoughtful consideration, as individuals must assess how the move will affect their healthcare, and financial stability.

For those concerned about the quality and cost of their healthcare, a relocation consultant has rounded up the best destinations for retirees looking to move abroad.

Kristin, who draws on official data to compile lists of locations for expats, shared the top destinations for healthcare around the world, putting Singapore at the top of the list.

“The country boasting the best healthcare in the world is the tiny southeast Asian city state of Singapore, with a population of just under six million and a very high rate of income per capita,” Kristin told viewers.

The city-state offers an enviable healthcare system, with subsidised care for residents alongside numerous private options.

“Singapore’s public insurance system covers large medical bills that come from hospital care or outpatient treatments,” explained the YouTuber.

“Residents also need to contribute to a compulsory medical savings account known as Medisave.”

The country also flaunts low crime and pollution rates, as well as one of the world’s highest life expectancies at nearly 84 years, according to insurance provider AXA.

“Singapore is well-known for having both an exceptionally high level of healthcare and a thriving expat community,” states their website.

“With low crime and pollution rates, and a culture that’s built on staying active and healthy, the average life expectancy in Singapore is just under 84 years. One of the highest in the world.”

Elsewhere on her channel, Kristin noted that housing is another critical aspect for expats to address before relocating to the country.

“The cost of living in Singapore is one of the things that turn foreigners away from living there,” Kristin added.

“If you don’t have a cushy work salary, going out for dinner for two could easily cost upwards of 100$ (£76).”

“Where it really gets expensive is housing. Singapore’s landmass, which is smaller than all of New York City, limits available properties.”

Can British citizens move to Singapore?

UK citizens can make Singapore their home, provided they meet the necessary criteria and documentation requirements.
