Bolton News pub of the week is The Courthouse in Bolton

The Courthouse, Mawdsley Street, is run by Husky Faldu who has extensive experience working in the hospitality sector.

We caught up with him to find out how it’s going.

Introduce yourself

My name is Husky Faldu and I’ve run The Courthouse for around six years now.

The interior of the pubHow’s it going?

It’s going well, thanks, we’re currently in the middle of marketing our new menus for the summer.  It has been good, we’ve got a really good atmosphere in here.

What made you want to take on running the pub?

We wanted to breathe new life into the town centre, obviously there are quite a few empty units and the industry is struggling a little, so we just wanted to be another option.

The barWhat has been the highlight so far?

I’d say the staff and the customers, we have a really good family environment, we’re close knit, really close, and have a good base of regulars.

What’s on the new menu?

Food-wise, we’ve got more of our very popular loaded fries, house-made pizzas, burgers, drink-wise, a lot of cocktails coming, a good variety, really.

CourthouseWhat’s the draught line-up?

Are there any challenges?

It’s extremely hard, the hardest I’ve ever known it, I don’t know how many will survive, a lot of big companies have gone under.  You see the big ones like Yates closing in the town and you think we if they’re struggling, how are we meant to cope. But, we cope and have a good base of regulars.

What’s the best thing about working in the sector?

It used to be all the perks and the discounts, it has changed a little now, but you still get to know the ‘what’s what’s’ and the ‘who’s who’s’ and its a great place to be, especially if you’re young.
