» Firefighters called to ‘false alarm’ off Deane Road, Bolton


Fire engines were reported at the scene around Blackshaw House off Fern Street at just after 3pm on the afternoon of Friday March 7.

Several engines appeared to be at the scene according to eyewitnesses in the area.

An eyewitness said: “There have been a lot of fire engines about, I counted a fair few that seemed to have been called, it could be something, could be nothing.”

Blackshaw House is a block of flats just between Fern Street and the River Croal found off Deane Road in the Deane area not far from the town centre on the western side. 

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed soon after that the fire fighters had been called to what appeared to be a false alarm.

Members of the public have been encouraged to always call 999 in the event of an emergency as soon as it is safe to do so.
