The weather is improving, however, with some rainy and colder days still being felt, you may want to stay in and do some cleaning.
Spring cleaning can seem like a chore, but it does not have to be, and there are clever hacks to make sure your home is tidy for the year ahead.
With that in mind, here is an expert’s trick that helps you declutter your home this Spring – and it costs less than £1.
Home experts shares £1 item to help clean your house
Home organisation experts have revealed one item that can help you declutter your home this spring – and that is masking tape.
Carl Benson, home organisation expert from Suffolk Pocket Door Company, has revealed how masking tape can help tackle storage problems.
He said: “Masking tape might not seem like much, but it’s a simple and effective way to change your relationship with clutter and items you are struggling to let go of.
“This one small trick gives you a visual cue of what you use, helping you make smarter, stress-free decluttering decisions.”
How the spring cleaning Masking Tape Method works
Here is how masking tape can be used to help with your spring cleaning.
Mr Benson said: “If you’re trying to de-clutter this spring and are worried that you will regret throwing something away, try adding a small piece of tape to every item in a room.
“Over the next six weeks, anytime you use an item, remove the tape to show you have used it. By Bank Holidays in May, you’ll see exactly what you use and don’t.
“It will give you plenty of time to use an item – or not, and then give you a clear guide of what to chuck away, recycle or donate.
“This advice works perfectly if you want to tackle something like your kitchen or your child’s room.
“This might be the cheapest decluttering hack you’ll ever try – a roll of masking tape can cost as little as 80p. And yet the clarity it gives you is worth so much more.”

He added how the method “takes the emotion out of decluttering” and “works for all rooms”.
It is also useful for improving your mood, with Mr Benson explaining: “A tidy home helps you appreciate your space more, reduces the time you spend hunting through clutter, and makes everyday routines smoother.
“All of this can positively impact your mood and reduce household stress.”
