A spokesperson said: “We’re transforming our business to deliver quicker, simpler, and more digital customer service.
“Our customers increasingly want choice, to speak to us on the phone when they need us most and the ease of managing everyday tasks digitally.”
The three call centres affected by the cull are:
- Stockport
- Sheffield
- Leeds Central
Operations at Dunfermline and Newcastle could also be affected, the media company revealed.
The job cuts and closures come as part of an overhaul due to “changing customer habits” but will be subject to consultation.
