Woman, 94, hit and killed by pickup crossing west end street

An elderly woman was killed when she was hit by a pickup truck in the city’s west end on Friday afternoon.

Toronto Police say the fatality occurred on King St. W. at Massey St. – just west of Strachan Ave. – around 3:25 p.m.

A 94-year-old woman was crossing from the north to the south side of King St. W. when she was struck by a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old man, Const. Sinderela Chung said in a statement released Saturday.

She said the pedestrian was transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

“The driver remained at the scene,” Chung said, adding the investigation is “ongoing.”
