The men allegedly returned to take the second nutcracker from the house

A 10-foot nutcracker Christmas decoration has been stolen from outside of a Cambridgeshire home. The nutcracker was taken on the evening on Wednesday, November 26, from a house in Spaldwick.

Doug Pecarski, the owner of the nutcracker, caught footage of two men allegedly parking outside of his neighbour’s house and climbing over the adjoining wall to take the Christmas decoration. The men returned later to try to take the second nutcracker but left when they realised Mr Pecarski was outside.

Mr Pecarski realised the nutcracker was missing the morning after. Mr Pecarski usually creates a Christmas display for people to visit every year for charity but has decided not to go ahead with it this year after the incident.

Mr Pecarski said: “On the evening of Wednesday the 26th, what appears to be two men, parked outside our neighbours house, climbed over the adjoining wall, and stole one of our two 10 foot nutcrackers, then had the gumption to return some 11 minutes later to attempt to steal the second one, but were clearly disturbed by us being outside. Unfortunately we didn’t notice the nutcracker had disappeared at the time as we hadn’t yet completed the lighting or other decorations.

“It wasn’t until the next day that we noticed it missing, and we weren’t quite sure how to digest it. How? Why? Who would do that?

“We put a lot of effort and pride into that display each year, and this event has made us pack up the complete display this year.

“We typically do a collection box and QR code link for people to donate to Woodgreen Pets Charity, and the community enjoy the display. It’s heart breaking that someone would want to remove that. His counterpart will miss him.”
