When sleeping or idly lounging on this mattress, I felt fabulously well supported. You can see just how firm it is by pressing your hand into the soft, quilted top cover; the underlying springs resist the pressure robustly.

These are divided into five zones, which are supposed to tailor the comfort to different parts of the body. I could certainly feel the difference from one area to the next. The strong lower back support was perhaps a little much for my taste, but it could be a godsend for those with backache. There’s good support under the knees, too (at least for a tall person, like myself).

When it came to preventing motion transfer, I was impressed to find that it has pretty well-isolated support from one side to the other, given its low price. Surprisingly for a pocket sprung model, I thought this mattress slept fairly warm. It’s not as heat retentive as most memory foam mattresses tend to be, but it seems less well ventilated than I’d have expected.

Much as I’ve usually found with Ikea, delivery went smoothly. The couriers were friendly and punctual, and the mattress arrived rolled in plastic, allowing for an easy shuffle up the stairs and onto the bed frame.

Packed with springs and incorporating a generous top layer of foam, this is understandably a heavy mattress. When the time comes to turn it, the integrated handles on either side will help.
