3 household items can help remove grease from oven
Ovens can get dirty through regular use and cooking of foods, leaving behind grease and grime.
If you are looking to clean your oven using a natural method, experts have shared a method that you can use with these 3 items.
The 3 household items that can help remove grease from oven
You can use baking soda, washing-up liquid and vinegar.
Combine washing-up liquid and baking soda in a bowl before putting in the vinegar, which will cause a reaction.
Let the mix sit for a few minutes and wait for the foam to go down before adding evenly over the oven and letting it sit for two to three hours.
Once it has, scrub the grease away, with more scrubbing possibly needed if the oven is dirtier than most.
Rachel Stringer is a professional realtor and home expert at Raleigh Realty, and explained why the combination of baking soda, dish soap, and vinegar is such an effective way of cleaning oven grease
She said: “Baking soda acts as a mild abrasive and an alkaline agent, which helps break down food residue and grease.

“Dishwashing liquid is a strong degreaser that helps lift oils and grime.
“Vinegar is useful at the end of the process to help remove any leftover residue and neutralise odours.
“It’s worth pointing out that the foaming reaction you see when mixing vinegar and baking soda isn’t actually what removes grease.
“The real cleaning comes from the baking soda and dish soap working together.”
Warning to households over using chemical cleaners on ovens
Rachel went on to advise households to avoid “harsh chemical cleaners and metal scrubbers”.
She said: “Natural methods work best when you give them time to soften grease, and regular light cleaning helps prevent the kind of build-up that requires heavy-duty intervention.
“Another grease-busting recipe is to apply a simple paste of baking soda mixed with water and to let it sit overnight.
“Lemon juice is also a good ingredient to add to the mix because its acidity helps cut through the grease, and it leaves a fresh scent.
“Even adding a bit of salt can assist with scrubbing small spills while the oven is still slightly warm.”
