The Trust has urged patients and staff to make alternative arrangements
The Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has issued advice for Addenbrooke’s Hospital staff and patients following a car park fire involving 12 vehicles. The Trust said it has been working closely with Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service following the blaze last night (December 13) on the second floor of car park one.
More than 30 firefighters attended the incident. Firefighters arrived to find a fire on the second floor of the car park involving multiple vehicles. They worked hard to contain the fire and stop it from spreading further. Road closures were in place at the hospital while crews dealt with the incident.
An NHS spokesperson confirmed that car park one will remain closed for some time. They shared: “We are working closely with Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service following the fire on the second floor of car park one.
“Car park one will remain closed for some time – please make alternative arrangements. If you are coming onto the site this evening for work, staff have open car park access so please find an alternative car park if you usually park in car park one.
“If you are a patient or member of staff and your car is parked in car park one tonight and into tomorrow, we will support you to get home. If your car is in car park one and you need to get back on site tomorrow for work or clinical care, either please make alternative arrangements or we will support you to do this.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your understanding.”
