Six Christmas food items have recently been recalled from supermarkets due to them posing a serious health risk.

Supermarkets have pulled multiple items from their shelves this week due to a number of serious food recalls. Major retailers like Tesco, Aldi and Sainsbury’s have been forced to respond to “do not eat” warnings issued to customers.

A range of products, including festive items, have been removed from stores due to containing undeclared ingredients which pose a safety hazard for those with allergies. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has cautioned that some of these affected products could be a significant “health risk”.

Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets

Aldi has issued a recall for its Christmas food item due to it containing egg, which is not declared on the label. The supermarket stated: “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets because the product is labelled incorrectly and contains an undeclared allergen (egg).

“Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.” The product subject to the recall is from Aldi’s Perfect Christmas brand and comes in 278g packaging, the Mirror reports.

Its use by date is December 15, 2025, and the barcode is 4069365328743.

Grape Tree dark chocolate and caramel coated raisins

Health store chain Grape Tree has declared a recall for two of its products this week. These are the Caramel Flavour Coated Raisins and Easy Melt Couverture Dark Chocolate 55%.

Both food items have been removed from shelves due to undeclared ingredients which are potentially dangerous to individuals with allergies.

The Caramel Flavour Coated Raisins contain peanuts, which is not stated on the label. This recall applies to products with a best before date of November 2026 and a batch code of 252918.

Easy Melt Couverture Dark Chocolate 55% contains milk, which is also not declared on the label. The warning pertains to products best before October 2026 and batch code of 241796.

Mince Pie Pastry Sour beer

Vault City Brewing’s Mince Pie Pastry Sour beer has also been recalled due to undeclared milk on the label. This product could cause a serious health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The alert is for Vault City Brewing’s 440ml can with a batch code of G840. The product will have a best before date of 18 November 2027.

Vault City’s beers are available to purchase in pubs and bars across the UK, as well as in retailers like Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

Disaronno Originale

The Food Standards Agency has issued an urgent warning for anyone who has bought 700ml bottles of Disaronno Originale.

Customers have been advised to return the product immediately and avoid consumption due to the discovery of tiny glass fragments.

The FSA announced: “Illva Saronno S.P.A is recalling Disaronno Originale because of the possible presence of small pieces of glass within some bottles of product, which could make it unsafe to drink.”

Officials explained that the potential glass contamination stems from an “anomaly on a bottling line”.

Seven batches have been identified as potentially impacted, with the following codes: 25374, 25375, 25381, 25382, 25435, 25442 and 25444.

Calbee Hot & Spicy Chips and Calbee Pizza Chips

Two types of Calbee crisps have been removed by the manufacturer after it was discovered that certain ingredients had not been declared on the packaging.

The Calbee Hot & Spicy Chips contain mustard whilst the Calbee Pizza Chips contain celery, posing a potential health risk for individuals with allergies to these specific ingredients.

The FSA stated: “If you have bought the above products and have an allergy to mustard or celery, do not eat them. Instead return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund. For further details, please contact Calbee’s customer care team on 03306600015 or consumercare@calbee.co.uk.”

The Calbee Hot & Spicy Chips removal affects both 55g and 105g packets, including all products with best before dates up to and including June 5, 2026.

Both Tesco and Lidl have notified their shoppers about the product withdrawal, once again emphasising that customers should not eat these items.

Aubergine Katsu Bao Buns

Tesco also issued another urgent recall earlier this week for one of their trendy party snacks. The retailer’s Aubergine Katsu Bao Buns, have been identified as a “possible health risk” due to them containing undeclared milk, which once again poses a potential danger to shoppers with dairy allergies or intolerances.

The recall affects Tesco 6 Aubergine Katsu Bao Buns sold in 258g packaging with use-by dates up to and including December 13.
