An area of grass outside the Glasgow Hilton Hotel, as well as a section of Newton Street and William Street, have been taped off following the incident.
Four men have been arrested after a car was stopped outside the Glasgow Hilton Hotel last night. The incident took place at around 8.50pm on Tuesday, December 2 when cops pulled over a vehicle on Newton Street.
Four men aged 34, 27, 27 and 22 have been arrested and an investigation has been launched. The nature of the arrests is not yet known.
An area outside the Hilton was locked down following the arrests and remains shut this morning. The road connects the hotel grounds to nearby Anderston Station and is located just off Argyle Street, one of Glasgow’s busiest roads.
Police Scotland officers were spotted at the scene on Wednesday, December 3, shortly before 9am. In photos shared with Glasgow Live, a large section of grass on the hotel grounds has been cordoned off with tape.
Several cones and a sign have also been erected near the junction of William Street to stop drivers and passengers from leaving and entering that particular stretch.
An eyewitness said: “I was just walking into work when I noticed blue flashing lights and a police cordon outside the Hilton Hotel. A large area was taped off and I spotted three police vehicles on the scene.
“Police had also blocked off William Street at its junction with Newton Street.”
Another wrote online: “Passed this last night, wondered what was happening, looks quite a significant police cordon.”
Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.50pm on Tuesday, 2 December, 2025, officers stopped a vehicle in Newton Street at the junction of William Street in Glasgow. Four men aged, 34, 27, 27 and 22 have been arrested. Enquiries are ongoing.”
