This conversation follows the tragic murder of John’s wife, Carol, and their two daughters, Louise and Hannah, who were killed in their home last July by Louise’s former partner, Kyle Clifford.

A segment of the interview was featured on Wednesday’s episode of BBC Breakfast, where John expressed gratitude for his daughter Amy’s support over the past year.

He remarked: “I’m staggered that we’re as well as we are at this particular moment in time. There’s still a lot more work to do.

“At the risk of embarrassing Amy, she’s been my best counsel from the word go. We talk all the time. I used to say, ‘I couldn’t do it without you’, but now I say, ‘I can do it with you’”.

In the wake of the devastating loss of their family members, John and Amy are now focused on creating a positive legacy in honour of Carol, Louise and Hannah, reports the Express.

Amy stated: “I think it’s really important to remember, they had a sad death, but they did not have a sad life. Their life was full of so much love and joy and happiness and fun.”

John and Amy have established the Hunt Family Foundation, an organisation dedicated to supporting initiatives that empower young women.

During their conversation, Queen Camilla revealed her own encounter with indecent assault as a teenager. She recounted: “I was attacked on a train, I’d sort of forgotten about it, but I remember that I’d been so angry.”

She described how her mother noticed something was amiss when she alighted from the train, questioning why her hair was dishevelled and a button was missing from her coat.

Speaking directly to John and Amy, she offered comfort: “I just want to say, wherever your family is now, they’d be so proud of you both.

“They must be, from above, smiling down on you and thinking, ‘my goodness me what a wonderful, wonderful father and husband, sister’. They’d just be so proud of you both.”

After the devastating attack, triple killer and convicted rapist Kyle Clifford received three whole life sentences in March this year.

In March, Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner, of the BCH Major Crime Unit, commented: “This has been a harrowing case and while we welcome the whole life orders, it will never make up for the loss of Louise, Hannah and Carol – three vibrant women in the prime of their lives.

“The Hunt family have shown immense dignity and composure throughout this horrendous time and my thoughts remain with them.

“Clifford has again shown himself to be a coward. Clifford armed himself with a crossbow and knife in order to attack three innocent women. They resisted him bravely, with Hannah raising the alarm, which ultimately helped police catch Clifford.”

The entire interview featuring John, Amy, Queen Camilla and Baroness Teresa Mayon can be heard on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme via BBC Sounds.

BBC Breakfast can be viewed on the BBC iPlayer.
