Antiques dealer Jo Roberts was stranded for an hour in Kenilworth woodland after her excitable puppy yanked her to the ground and she was left unable to move
A television antiques dealer was rescued from an isolated woodland area after she fell and broke her hip during a dog walk.
Jo Roberts, known for her appearances on BBC One‘s The Bidding Room, found herself alone and in severe pain after being pulled to the ground by her pet dog.
The 73-year-old was enjoying a tranquil walk near her home in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, when her lively one-year-old puppy Suzie spotted a squirrel and dashed off, causing Jo to fall.
She lay immobilised on the path, unable to call for assistance as she had left her mobile phone at home to enjoy some “me time.”

Her ordeal finally came to an end when another dog walker discovered her an hour later and managed to raise the alarm on October 2.
Initially, Jo asked the passerby to contact Anton, the manager of a nearby spa. However, upon his arrival, he realised he was unable to assist.
Recognising the seriousness of the situation, Anton dialled 999 and also contacted Jo’s son Matt, 42, and husband Paul, 73.
Despite difficulties in determining Jo’s exact location, an ambulance crew arrived shortly afterwards.
The daytime TV personality was given morphine and carried out of the woods on a stretcher.
She was taken to Warwick Hospital, where she underwent a three-hour hip replacement operation the next day.
The surgery was successful, and after spending a week in hospital, Jo was discharged.
Reflecting on her experience, Jo said: “At every level, the care and respect I received while in a totally vulnerable state, was extraordinary.”
Jo, who has amassed a significant following on Instagram, is now advocating for the importance of carrying a fully-charged mobile phone and having the what3words location finding app installed before embarking on outdoor adventures.
She stated: “The shocking incident has made me quite passionate about spreading the word of the importance of having your phone and what3words, my situation could have been a lot worse.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed: “We were called to a patient who had reportedly fallen in woodland off Ashow Road, Kenilworth at 9.42am on the 2nd October 2025.
“One ambulance attended. Crews treated a woman on scene who had sustained serious injuries before conveying her to Warwick Hospital for further care.”
The Bidding Room is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
