Beloved vintage shop closes for good after 43 years in ‘end of an era’ as owners say ‘we are endlessly grateful’

SHOPPERS are devastated after a beloved vintage store announced it will be pulling the shutters down after 43 years.
The popular shop, located in Nottingham city centre, revealed the news “with a very heavy heart”.

Wild Clothing, in Hockley’s Broad Street, will be permanently shut down by the end of the year.
Loyal customers have been urged to make the most of a massive sale to clear stock before December 31.
A spokesperson blamed and “incredibly difficult climate for independent retail in the UK” on the sudden closure.
They dubbed it the “end of an era” and hailed their “legacy” in the local community.
“Over the past few years, we’ve done everything we possibly could to keep Wild going. We explored every option, including trying to find new owners to carry the torch forward,” the statement read.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision, and it’s one we’ve reached with a lot of thought and care.
“What has been easy is recognising just how much Wild has meant – to our team (past and present), to our customers and to the city itself.
“We are endlessly grateful for the loyalty and support you’ve shown Wild over the decades. It has been part of so many lives, memories and moments, and that legacy will always matter.
“Wild has been so much more than a shop – it’s been a place of community, creativity and connection for generations of people in Nottingham and beyond.”
This comes after we reported how a major high street chain also shut down two of its stores for good this week.
Poundland is closing its stores in Oldham, Manchester, and Ballymena, County Antrim, as part of a huge wave of closures.
Meanwhile, a British high street giant is set to shut over 100 shops this winter.
The budget retailer will have made the cuts by early next year after kicking off its restructuring programme.
