Mickey Lee passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 35, her heartbroken family has confirmed.
A Big Brother star has died at the age of 35. Mickey Lee, who was a contestant in the 27th series of Big Brother US, passed away on Christmas Day after suffering multiple cardiac arrests.
The reality TV star’s family confirmed the tragedy today, a day after her death. Taking to Instagram, they wrote: “With profound sadness, the family of Mickey Lee announces her transition on Christmas in the early evening.
‘Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on ‘Big Brother,’ where her authenticity, strength and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike.
“She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed on and offscreen.”
Mickey had been taken to hospital earlier this week. A GoFundMe page set up for the former CBS personality said at the time she was in a “critical but stable condition” after “suffering a series of cardiac arrests,” reports the Mirror.
While the family described the star has having a “long road ahead” they said she had been in a stable condition. In the description, Mickey’s family described her as “vibrant, strategic, and unforgettable personality”.
They said she had “captured the attention of fans with her energy, authenticity, and bold gameplay”. Mickey finished in 10th place on Big Brother’s 27th season in the United States. The show was eventually won by Ashley Hollis.
Fans and friends shared their devastation online following the tragic news. One user on Twitter/X said: “Looking back on BB27, Mickey really was that girl! The laughs she gave me even when she was stressing me out. And Face card stayed on 10. Gonna miss my hero/villain.”
Another user wrote: “Mickey Lee captured our hearts this past summer on #BB27, and her kindness, strength, and spirit will never be forgotten. She passed on Christmas Day. Rest in peace. Sending love and prayers to her family, friends, and cast mates.
Rachel Reilly Villegas paid tribute to her former castmate as she told Daily Mail: “I hate this so much – I am in shock – I don’t even feel like I should have a comment because it isn’t about me, my heart goes out to her family and lifelong friends – my heart is broken by this news.
“Big Brother doesn’t just give you castmates — it gives you family. I’m forever grateful I got to share that house and that experience with Mickey. We walked into the Big Brother house as strangers and walked out bonded for life.”
It comes after stars had took to social media to share their support prior to her death. Following news of her hospitalisation, Jimmy Heagerty, who was closely aligned with Mickey in the TV game said: “Mickey is a fighter, and I know she’s going to come back stronger than ever. Until then, let’s show up for our girl in every way we can.”
