A photograph taken by a nearby resident showed multiple police units and paramedics at the scene as they worked to assist the injured rider.

The motorcyclist was treated at the roadside before being taken to hospital as a precaution. Their condition is not currently known, reports EdinburghLive.

The crash caused delays for drivers in the area as police closed the northbound stretch of Longstone Road and urged motorists to avoid the route while emergency crews remained in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.50pm, police were called to a single-vehicle crash on Longstone Road at the Calder Roundabout, Edinburgh. The motorcyclist has been taken to hospital as a precaution. Officers remain at the scene. The road is closed.”

Drivers have been advised to expect disruption until the route is fully reopened.
