Bolton: Gritters to treat roads as temperatures plummet

The gritting started today and there will be another grit at 6.30pm.

Both will be full grits and those needing grit bins filled should email streetcare@bolton.gov.uk to request a refill.

Drivers are being urged to slow down, keep a safe distance, and allow extra time for journeys during wintry weather.

All seven gritters were deployed

The gritting winter service runs October through to April, with gritters on 24-hour standby “to keep Bolton moving safely”.

The council treats 510 km (317 miles) of main traffic routes across the borough.

And it added that unfortunately, it’s not possible to treat every road with the resources available.
