Bolton stars in The Talamasca Netflix’s new supernatural thriller

The town’s stunning architecture sets the scene for the gothic in the series based on Anne Rice’s gothic series of novels The Vampire Chronicles, which starring Downtown Abbey’s Elizabeth McGovern.

Key scenes were filmed on Le Mans Crescent – transformed into a London street complete with tube station for the shoot.

Crawley on Downton Abbey, is Helen, a “seasoned veteran of the Talamasca”.

The series follows the secret society which is responsible for tracking and containing witches, vampires, werewolves and other creatures scattered around the globe.

She recruits leading character Guy Anatole, played by Aussie actor Nicholas Denton who is best known for his role in the 2022 series Dangerous Liaisons.

Also starring in the series is William Fichtner of Prison Break, Heat and Armageddon fame, as Jasper, a “mysterious American” who is the leader of the London branch of the Talamasca.

Filming for the series took place in Bolton last October, with the series landed on Netflix yesterday.

Bolton steps into spotlight with Film Office launch

Other scenes were shot in Greater Manchester and Glasgow. Bolton has become a hotspot for filming, earning the nickname “Hollywood of the North.”

A new film bureau has been launched in the town hall to help Bolton become the in a leading destination for film and TV production crews.

The newly established Bolton Film Office aims to build on the town’s reputation as the Hollywood of the North, making it easier for production crews to choose Bolton, while also ensuring the town benefits from the boom in screen tourism.

The Bolton Film Office was officially launched at the Bolton International Film Festival.

Bolton hosted more than 140 days of filming.
