Bolton turned into a magical winter wonderland after snow

Barrow Bridge Village was transformed into a frosty fairytale setting and show in the beautiful pictures taken by Bolton News Camera Club member Barbara Lane.

The weather forecast for Bolton today (Tuesday) is cold and cloud, with no sign of the winter sunshine.

Winter showers are possible at around 9am, according to The Met Officer with temperatures falling below zero until 1pm, when they will continue to struggle to rise above on degree.

The BBC Weather forecast is predicting snowfall from 6am today until 10am. Snow is also predicted on Thursday and on Saturday.

Bolton Council has been conducting full grits over the past few days.

A spokesman said: “Please take extra care and drive safely, especially during this amber Cold-Health Alert (currently in place in the North West until 9 Jan, 10am).

“Our Winter Maintenance team will be monitoring conditions closely.”

Nationally, hundreds of schools have been shut and flights cancelled as weather warnings remain in force with snow bringing disruption.

Amber weather warnings were in place for snow until 10am in parts of Scotland, forecasting “heavy snow” and travel disruption, while yellow warnings for snow and ice still cover parts of the UK.

A number of schools across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland were shut on Monday, while flights have been cancelled, including at Manchester Airport, and some train lines are also affected.
