Breightmet: Police issue statement after fire breaks out a property

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: ” We were called to reports of a fire at around 3:10pm

“One man was rescued from the property by the fire service and remains in hospital in a critical condition.

“Enquiries remain ongoing.”

Emergency services were called Lorton Grove in Breightmet, with officers remaining on the scene, with a small cordon in place outside the property.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Recue Service (GMFRS) said: “At shortly before 3pm on Friday (December 5) three fire engines from Bolton and Farnworth fire stations were called to a fire at a terraced bungalow on Lorton Grove, Wythenshawe.

 “Firefighters rescued one man from the property before handing them to the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service. The fire was extinguished using hose reels with the area made safe by crews. GMFRS were in attendance for just over two hours.”

It is understood an air ambulance landed in Dome Park.
