British tourist ‘bit and punched’ people after playing his music too loud | News World
A British tourist is facing up to six years in prison after allegedly assaulting two people who complained about his loud music.
John Wilson was playing music at the four-star Santa Ponsa Park Hotel in Majorca, Spain, early in the morning when other holidaymakers complained on July 15, 2024.
Prosecutors say after a pair of British tourists asked him to turn down his music, he launched an attack.
Police say one of his victims is scarred after Wilson bit him on the ear, and the other was forced to get 10 stitches after being hit repeatedly around the head.
Prosecutors wanted Wilson, charged with two counts of wounding, to be jailed for four years if he is found guilty of one of the crimes and two years for the other.
They are also seeking compensation of £6,500 for damages.
Two police officers have been called to give evidence at the trial, along with Wilson and his two alleged victims.
No date for the hearing has yet been sent.
A three-page prosecution indictment claims Wilson acted ‘with the intention of harming the physical well-being’ of the other two holidaymakers.
It says: ‘They had left their room and reprimanded him for making noise because he was using a wireless speaker.
‘He repeatedly hit one of the men around the head and the body and bit the second on his right outer ear.’
It is not known where in the UK Wilson, whose full name is John William Charles Wilson, is from or how old he is. He has a clean criminal record in Spain.
In September, a British woman was arrested in Benidorm after reportedly strangling a friend from the UK with a hoover lead.
The holidaymaker, 64, allegedly attacked her friend, 66, during a row in a flat in Rincón de Loix. A third friend witnessed the incident and phoned the police around midnight.
The alleged killer, who has not been named, confessed after she was arrested by police, according to the local newspaper Levante.
An initial post-mortem confirmed the victim died of mechanical asphyxiation by strangulation and had marks around her neck.
Photographs from the scene showed the door to the home taped up and a mobility scooter outside.
