A thief has been jailed after stealing from a petrol station in Cambridgeshire. Soma Deasley, 37, was caught on CCTV stealing food, including 24 desserts, from a BP filling station in Bretton, Peterborough, on December 19.

Deasley had also been stealing from shops in Dogsthorpe, Bretton, New England, and Walton, Peterborough from November 11 to December 31. Deasley, of no fixed address, admitted to six shoplifting offences at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 13.

He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison. He was also ordered to pay £565.12 in compensation.
