Officers say they are treating the fire as wilful.
Police have released CCTV images of a man after a deliberate fire at a Scots shopping centre.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at Rutherglen Shopping Centre, in the South Lanarkshire town’s Stonelaw Lane at 8.12pm on Tuesday, October 7. Officers say they are treating the fire as wilful.
They believe the male pictured in the CCTV images can assist them with their inquiries. The man in the pictures is described as white, has receding brown hair, spoke with an English – possibly York – accent.
At the time, he was wearing a dark blue top and trousers, a yellow hooded top and white trainers. He was carrying at least one rucksack.
Anyone who may recognise him is urged to come forward.
Detective Constable Ross Meldrum, Lanarkshire CID, said: “We believe the man pictured may have information that could assist our investigation and would encourage him, anyone who may recognise him or anyone with any information to come forward.”
