Channel 4 Gogglebox viewers call for axing amid complaints
On Friday, December 12, the broadcaster aired the Stand Up To Cancer Celebrity Gogglebox special, seeing Hollywood stars appear on the Channel 4 show.
The special saw Oscar winner Kieran Culkin with his wife Jazz Charton, Josh Hartnett, Tasmin Egerton, David and Georgina Tennant and Nick Mohammed and Joe Marley star.
Despite the extra star power, some viewers of Celebrity Gogglebox took to social media to share their disappointment over the show’s change.
Gogglebox viewers make the same complaint moments into the special
Taking to X, viewers of Stand Up To Cancer Celebrity Gogglebox complained of the special guests’ stars, as some suggested that they are “not nearly as entertaining as the regulars”.
One viewer of the Channel 4 show said: “Why oh why do we have to have celebrities on Gogglebox? Not only do I not recognise half of them, but they’re not nearly as entertaining as the regulars.
“Being a celebrity doesn’t automatically make you funny, b****r off and leave it to the regulars.”
Another fan of the show said: “Sorry much prefer the usual Gogglebox crew, more funny & entertaining.”
While a third added, “Why do we have to have celebrity versions of everything?
“These celebs are not remotely funny. Or interesting.”
Other viewers of Gogglebox shared they were unsure of who the celebrities were, writing: “Who the hell are half these people?”
Although some viewers of Stand Up To Cancer Celebrity Gogglebox shared some complaints, others loved the special.
As one X user wrote: “Kieran Culkin and David Tennant OHHH IM BUZZING.”
Another happy fan said: “Great line up for #StandUpToCancer celebrity gogglebox, David & Georgia Tennant, Kieran Culkin and for us #traitors fans we have Nick Mohammed and Joe Marler!!!”
